I couldn’t concentrate on what he was saying as my OCD couldn’t handle the disgrace that is Starnes messy paper pile.

Good interview I thought which seemed to corroborate with what appeared to be the sticking points in the rumour mill regards the appointment.
Statement of intent at the end there, hopefully that can be delivered - although I hope the club recognise we can’t be a championship club with our ramshackle match day facilities.

In fairness there’s always a statement of intent . Have we ever gone into a season by saying we weren’t going for promotion? Talk is cheap ( but I imagine Barton & 2 coaches wasn’t !)

That was painful on the ear. I can’t see Joey Barton working with this lot for too long, he’s been here five minutes and doesn’t know a lot about Rovers but give it a couple of months and he will soon get the picture. I think Wael should get professional advice regarding the running and future planning of a football club as this man will have him on the streets if allowed to be let loose for much longer. The vision of BRFC is roll the dice and hope.

I think joey has done a lot of research into the fan base , the heart of the club . When he begins to see into the business and running side of the club , well, that may cause him a lot of concern , only time will tell . 🤔Utg

A disservice? I wouldn’t quite say that as it’s one thing being told something and weighing up a situation and a totally different scenario when in real life so to speak. As Tisdale found out, yes.!! I’ve been in that situation a fair few times myself as have probably most people. Don’t make out I am having a go at Barton!

One question how many coaches and staff do you need ? In the modern game ..4 or 5 coaches probably. Sounds like Joey had hill and mangan plus 2 others at fleetwood. I know its scary but go look at city training at failand and see there are about the same number of coaches if not more. They dont all do the same things some are for warm ups and fitness others for tactics and others for skill improvement. If you want Rovers to be a club that can get into the championship and stay there you need these things.

The vision of BRFC is roll the dice and hope. I've been critical in the past of the way that Starnes has presented himself and the club but it really has to change now, surely. Under the current situation it's important that the club make the absolute best of every opportunity to interact act with the public. That interview, unfortunately, is 9.15 mins we will never get back. Since the onset of the pandemic there has been so much learned about online presentations that many books will be written on it but apparently the information hasn't made it to our club. I'm not sure what say Tom Gorringe has over these type of presentations but he must tear his hair out when he see's them. It doesn't mean Martin is a bad person but you also have to understand there are some jobs you just should be kept away from. It's not just these interviews that are a problem but this is also the person fronting the club in negotiations to attract players here. It's surprising that with Wael's corporate background he hasn't addressed the issue. The whole club image isn't great and hasn't been for some time, an impact largely of the ground we play in but we shouldn't default to that position. It was interesting that the approach was made by Barton's agent to Wael and not the club's CEO. Hopefully the club backroom set up will be slimmed down over the summer and Starnes, Widdlington and the old coaching staff will find find opportunities to further their careers elsewhere. It would be a shame if we wasted the opportunity of Baron's appointment.

"Tommy will watch the opposition and suggest which players should be brought in" - that worries me.

It worries me that someone who has only presided over one (dire defeat) match should be getting such adulation at the expense of people who have already worked for years for the club. Istm people are getting carried away by Barton's success. Hint: he hasn't had any yet. Also, the idea that we should keep him even if we go down, which I've read a lot over the past week, seems a bit presumptive. Surely we should wait to see the manner of our relegation before advocating the mastermind of our failure be kept in charge.
