Seriously you guys need to learn about superstition - a Match Day Thread started the day before the match day ... it's so obviously bad luck it's not even worth explaining!

Okay let's hope I bring some luck back the boys after my winning Matchday thread vs Shrewsbury Town. Let's just hope the boys do us proud I've taken the liberty of turning this into a build-up thread, for ridiculous reasons that I'm buying into. Hopefully you will still get to start the proper match day thread. Sorry for the ridiculousness.

Wish he'd stop talking about Fleetwood in interviews.

Hardly surprising he talks about Fleetwood when hes directly asked about previous encounters with the Hull management or the opposition. If he had been our Manager when we faced them at the Mem no doubt he would have referred to that but with only three games in charge he has very limited references!!

Wish he'd stop talking about Fleetwood in interviews. Not sure what he meant about there not being much money in the FA Cup for clubs like Fleetwood. Lower league clubs dream of a few FA Cup games as the extra income is sometimes a lifeline unless he means his old Chairman didn't need the money.

If he had been our Manager when we faced them at the Mem no doubt he would have referred to that but with only three games in charge he has very limited references!! The question was about issues between them in the past, not the score of every encounter over the last three seasons and a breakdown of the team he put out in the FA Cup. It's the same in every interview he does. It's not relevant and it's not interesting.

Hull City vs. Bristol Rovers 3pm Kick Off Get your ifollow pass here: www.bristolrovers.co.uk/matches/fixtures/first-team/2020212/march/hull-city-vs-bristol-rovers-on-06-mar-21/ Summary
So far they have played 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 in most of their matches. They are a very good outfit and having come down from the championship they carry with them a bit of extra quality having retained a lot of their players from the previous campaign. They are currently 2nd in the table and on route for automatic promotion. They have played a couple more matches than the teams around them though so will be as desperate as us for 3 points. In the league at the memorial stadium we took the lead through Daly a real poachers goal and held out until the hour mark when they made a triple substitution, they then strolled to a pretty comfortable 3-1 win. That game included Tutonda and Hare as wingbacks and Kilgour was on the bench. We played 3-5-2 which was Garners favoured at that time. We are different set up now so it's certainly going to be interesting. Hull have goals in the team thats for sure. We will need to watch out for Wilks 16 goals and Magennis 11 oh and Honeyman the maestro of their midfield has 10 assists is their highest rated player on who scored with 7.29 (Gas comparison Luke Leahy 6.98 5 Goals 3 Assists) Player stats and ones to watch

Strengths, weaknesses and style of play + Strengths
Finishing scoring chances Very Strong Attacking set pieces Very Strong Attacking down the wings Very Strong Stealing the ball from the opposition Very Strong Creating scoring chances Strong Counter attacks Strong - WeaknessesAvoiding offside Very Weak Hull's Style of PlayAttempt crosses often Attacking down the right Take a lot of shots Opinion
A very tough test although Joey Barton has more often than not has won the tactical battle against the current Hull manager. Brandon Hanlan is once again 50/50 having not training with an ongoing achilles issue. Max Ehmer is fit however the back line has looked settled for most of the matches and Harries direct passing has been decent. No word that Williams has an injury and given I believe his pace is key against Hull, I have gone for an unchanged back three. I have kept the experienced WBs in Rodman and Leahy as they have been performing well in the past few games. Grant retains his place and arguably is getting better and better under the coaching of Joey, Clint and Mangs. The suspension of McCormick provides the headache as Bartons team play with a pacey press - is Upson up for that? Unsure. After not seeing Hargreaves feature much now for weeks, I have gone for the versatile Nicholson with his energy to fill that role but I don't think it would pan out that way. With placing Nicholson in midfield I have got Daly in to pick up the slot Nicholson left and kept Westbrooke high. I think we need to be very careful with Hanlan and so have started with Ayunga with a view that Hanlan can change the game or give the defenders something different to think about as a super sub My line up 3-4-2-1:* | * | * | Day | * | * | * | * | Williams | * | Kilgour | * | Harries | * | * | * | Grant | * | Nicholson | * | * | Rodman | * | * | * | * | * | Leahy | * | * | Westbrooke | * | Daly | * | * | * | * | * | Ayunga | * | * | * |

Replacing McCormick's energy is going to be a problem, probably the nearest we have in the squad is Hargreaves but I'm not sure he'll go that way, I'd suggest it's more likely to be Upson alongside Grant. The back 3 have all played pretty well the last couple of games so think Ehmer may have to wait to get back in. Free hit for us really Hull will be big favourites, absolutely nothing to fear.

As others have said, think we’re sorely going to miss the legs McCormick gives us in midfield tomorrow.
Upson does have some qualities but isn’t capable of ratting around the midfield & pressing the opposition like McCormick can, and Hargreaves has barely featured all season. I guess you could move Westbrooke a bit deeper & play him alongside Grant, but not sure I’d be keen to do that in a tough away game.
Maybe the system will have to change a bit & we’ll have to play more on counter and defend a bit deeper? Can’t see us changing from the back 3/5 as we have been fairly solid in that shape since JB arrived.
Tough one!

Is Oztumer fit and available? I see he was a late substitute in Barton's first match but not even on the bench subsequently.
