'But looking at the top end of the pitch you’ve got three strikers and the most experienced is 23. There’s not a lot there in terms of been there, seen it, done it'
More than enough there to score the goals to make sure this club is competitive in this division.
The group we assembled were not assembled as just individuals. They were assembled to play in a certain way. Not in one particular shape, but in a certain style.
They were deemed the right people at the right time. I don’t lose faith in that and if you guys go back historically and look at what you reported when we signed these players, you were all excited. I saw it.
When it isn’t going well it’s your job to report the other. I don’t lose faith. Players don’t become bad players because they come to Bristol Rovers, far from it.
We want to improve them and we want to improve them whilst they’re the pitch.
There are people who have been brought into the football club, even in the past 12 months that because they’re getting game time they are improving as individuals. Therefore the team will turn this corner.

It's difficult when people don't post links, which is one of my bugbears of this forum....

I’m fairly certain this was said prior Joey Barton taking over.

Thanks pirate So it was February so obviously he was trying to keep morale up or give the players a bit of a boost. A lot of what's been quoted here can been seen in that light. That said, the whole interview is pretty horrible and he comes across as very arrogant, throwing 2 managers under the bus for recruiting players and then failing to get them playing while seemingly forgetting that he was Head of Recruitment. Doesnt come over as a very nice person in this interview so I can quite understand why so many have taken a dislike to him.

He was caretaker manager at the time of saying that, he’s hardly going to come out and say yeah I’ve recruited a rubbish strike force is he? Especially when this is after Tisdale getting sacked for pretty much saying exactly that.
Just think those words have been blown out of proportion from their original meaning really.
Besides, plenty other evidence that incriminates the bloke.

You would think an ex school teacher would know such basics as the difference between past and present tense. 😊

Would love to see an interview with him now and see how he reflects on those answers he gave after Tisdale was sacked.
For the life of me I cannot see how his position is tenable.

I hated that interview. Lots on here, including me, were spitting feathers about our recruitment in terms of strikers. If supporters on a forum could see it last September, why couldn’t our head of recruitment? Negligence.

Not Widdrington’s biggest fan but he’d probably point to fact we scored 7 goals in his 3 games in charge as evidence that, managed correctly, there were goals in the team.
A bit like how Hanlan and Daly were scoring at the start of the season playing the way they’d been bought in to play, yet yesterday faced with a deluge of long balls they both looked absolute sh**e.

All I can take from that is that Tisdale shouldn't have been sacked if he was treated equally to his replacement....
Don't want to cause a ruck but it seems a bit unfair....
