The only thing more embarrassing than being associated with Bristol Rovers is being told you're not good enough for them I mean how the f**k does anyone recover from that?!

I reckon it’s plain and simply that he’s a marmite character.
Didn’t last long at England, didn’t last long under Tisdale, rose from the dead like Jesus, didn’t last long under Joey.
Slammed Tisdale on linked in and now his mates are having a pop at the club / Joey on linked in.
But Joey is the unprofessional one. Hhhhmmm.

I’m sure his recent comment that Garner was a Great manager didn’t sit well with Barton whilst he’s still trying to blame him for his shortcomings.

All I’ll say is that if Colesy as he’s affectionately known, is such a good coach, a world class coach as described by his peers, then why didn’t he or couldn’t he coach JVS and Day to a standard where they would keep goals out?
Both of them error prone with basic weaknesses at this level.
Jed Ward gets one start in an already relegated team bottom of the league and it’s revered as a major achievement....except he’s been with us since he was 9!
Bounced around a plethora of clubs, including us and not last long at many. Something fishy there.

As good old Joey has said many times, you can coach-out individual errors or improve players not good enough for their school teams. Still trusted Clint did a fine job with sorting out our defense.

Not sure any goalie coach could make JVS an L1 standard keeper, as far as Day how do you coach an experienced goalie not to make mistakes? On the flip side Jaakola's always been one of the best L1 goalie's, does Colesy not deserve any credit for that? The big danger for Rovers is allowing Barton to bring in all is own men then seeing him get a custodial sentence after next month's trial, which there surely must be at least a 50% prospect or the CPS would have dropped the charges.

The CPS bring cases with a high chance of success. The sentence handed down for any successful conviction is nothing to do with the CPS.

I never said anything about the CPS deciding the penalty if Barton his convicted l, but he'll do well to stay out of prison if he his convicted given his previous form, plus what action will the FA take if one of their manager's is convicted of assaulting another one, surely he'll get a lengthy ban? The court case just seems to be ignored by the whole club, and the Bristol Post, as if he's only due in court on for a minor motoring offence

I'm saying that's utter nonsense.

The CPS decide whether or not to proceed with the prosecution, the trial Judge the penalty, I doubt many people who read a football forum need that to be clarified, if the CPS didn't proceed with the charges then the Judge wouldn't get a chance to sentence Barton. Unless you know the exact workings/thinking of the CPS then how would you know they didn't take the final outcome into consideration before proceeding with such a high profile case?

The CPS look at the evidence provided by the police and decide if there (i) is reasonable grounds to prosecute and (ii) it is in the public interest.

Really? Fleetwood Town can confirm David Lucas will leave the club at the end of the current season after eight years. The goalkeeping coach has accepted an exciting new role at a Premier League club and will therefore depart Highbury Stadium in May. Lucas arrived at Fleetwood initially as a player in 2013 before becoming goalkeeping coach under the boss Graham Alexander. Andy Pilley, Chairman of Fleetwood Town, said: “We’d like to thank Dave for his service to the club, he’s a hugely popular member of staff. “Everyone at the club is delighted he’s been given an opportunity in the Premier League and it was something we’d never stand in the way of. He will leave this summer with our thanks and best wishes.” The club will now begin the process of recruiting for the role of Head of Goalkeeping. www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/news/2021/april/david-lucas-to-leave-town-at-end-of-the-season/Thinks that the PL move has fallen through, will get back to my source about it. Oh no it hasn't! Off to Everton.
