You said there is a 50% chance of a custodial sentence otherwise the CPS would not have bothered. I'm saying that's utter nonsense. The CPS decide whether or not to proceed with the prosecution, the trial Judge the penalty, I doubt many people who read a football forum need that to be clarified, if the CPS didn't proceed with the charges then the Judge wouldn't get a chance to sentence Barton. Unless you know the exact workings/thinking of the CPS then how would you know they didn't take the final outcome into consideration before proceeding with such a high profile case? Not quite correct topper. The prosecutor will look at the evidence and recommend any proceedings to the CPS for prosecution based on a) evidence b) witness testimony c) police incident reporting d) public interest. It has to achieve certain thresholds before it will even see the inside of a magistrates court let alone a possible sentencing outcome. Usually in an assault case it will be brought before the magistrates to decide at the persons plea hearing whether it needs to see a crown court to be decided in front of a jury or whether it can be handled at a magistrates court. For example, if there is considerable evidence and the plea is guilty it could be handled there and then. If the plea is not guilty a trial date is set and depending on the crime whether again that will be heard at a magistrates or crown court. In any case, the only outcome you can assume is based on the maximum sentence given for the charge given, not the crime. However, even then it isn’t certain and is more subjective because you don’t know what evidence will be presented, whether the crime actually fits the charge he’s in the dock for, and or what reference will be made to similar cases in the past which have had certain outcomes. I’ve just been through a criminal trial myself as the prosecution so I’m pretty well versed at the moment on how things work.

I never said anything about the CPS deciding the penalty if Barton his convicted l, but he'll do well to stay out of prison if he his convicted given his previous form, plus what action will the FA take if one of their manager's is convicted of assaulting another one, surely he'll get a lengthy ban? The court case just seems to be ignored by the whole club, and the Bristol Post, as if he's only due in court on for a minor motoring offence when he was first appointed Frosty wrote in one of his articles that they weren't allowed to talk about the court case until it was over, which is pretty standard for media reporting on upcoming court cases etc. Not sure about the club, may be the same restrictions.

Pretty standard not to discuss the case but usually the press mention trials are looming, not just totally ignore them

Denzil joining us, Del boy and Rodney to follow. Thought I would get in before Only fools and Horses is mentioned in connection with Joey's rebuild.

Interesting that the article only names Tisdale as threatening legal action against JB. I would imagine that Garner would not want his tenure at Rovers to be put under the microscope for a wider audience, so is happy to move on.

The microscope wouldnt have to zoom in that far either would it and the same for Tisdale.

Has JB released the footage and data yet?
Surely that’s the easiest way to solve the argument. Release the data and footage then everyone can see it and make their own mind up.
As it stands this whole thing is based on one mans opinion of footage and data no one else has seen.

Why should you and all and sundry be shown the information that Joey and his staff are in possession of? He is not the one threatening legal action and is obviously keeping his cards close to his chest. If he is talking bollocks it's up to Garner and Tisdale to prove otherwise by carrying out the threat of legal action and bring things into the public domain. I very much doubt they ever will.

Unless there is something majorly obvious than I am not sure what the point would be It's very much a he said/she said thing isn't it about training methods and there are many ways to skin a cat but the trouble is Joey said NEGLIGENT and that is slanderous

You’re right bideford, nothing will come of it. And even if the data was released, let’s face it who’d really understand it? Like most stats it could show anything. The professionals would be able to see the important stuff and on here? Well, few would really understand it and what it means but everyone would take one little piece and pretend to be experts! As it is we’ve probably not been as fit as we should be and I guess we have to let JB get it right. But the whole thing is a fairly miserable condemnation of our club being carried out in public. Just a total mess, let’s hope it’s sorted soon. UTG!

I have heard some criticism of Garner's pre-season training. Some players felt that the way the two sessions per day were scheduled was not giving their bodies enough recovery time, which was backed up by the data on the sophisticated fitness trackers which some of them wear. I'm not a sports scientist, so have no idea if this preparation impacted longer term regarding the amount of injuries and lack of longevity in match fitness. With regards to Tisdale, I got the impression that he was not present on the training ground as much as BG had been.

I thought JB criticism was they weren’t working hard enough in pre season but the players felt they were working too hard?

Got more clubs posted on Wiki than Big Jock has posted dinners on here. But he ticks the scouser box. Club buying new luxury mini bus to transport the new coaches down from Liverpool for training sessions I am hearing.

For me though, who said what to whom, whether things were done professionally or not, is an internal matter. The fact that Barton cannot keep his mouth shut and just work on rectifying the faults he claims to have found speaks to an issue about his own professionalism. What organisation would want their behind the scenes faults (if any) spread all over the media week in week out? It does suggest to me a deeply flawed personality, so insecure that he seeks to relate his own relative performance against tge failures of others. A sign surely of a deep inferiority complex. Violence is another signature of such a complex. Subject to outside rulings he is our manager for the foreseeable future. But you add all this negative noise around the club to his actual results, its hardly a strong case for optimism is it?

He would have to prove Tis breached his duty of care to our players and harm to them resulted. Joey is a silly boy.
