Not really, just don't offer 2 year contracts to average young players, only Grant, Daly and Hanlan probably warranted 2 year contract the rest would have probably snatched our hands off for a 12 months contract, no wonder "Dave" couldn't stop smiling after he signed for us, I bet he couldn't believe he'd bagged a 2 year contract at an L1 cub after he left Barnet. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. He was man of the match for his first two starts, but then had a muscle problem and never rediscovered that form. If he didn’t pick up the injury and carried on that form and we lost him for nothing, everyone would have moaned. It's not hindsight it's common sense, what non league 25 yr old full backs have ever gone for big money just a year after joining a league side?

Beside Bodin leaving PNE they also released Josh Ginnelly who enjoyed a loan spell at the Mem. But Hearts are apparently interested in him.

Question is, how many contracted players have been told they can find another club?

Question is, how many contracted players have been told they can find another club? Exactly. There are still a significant number of contracted players who are surplus to requirements. Perhaps a reduced salary as a consequence of the relegation will hasten their departure. For me only really want Anssi and Nicholson.

Obviously a few more I would like to see added to the released list but I understand our hands are tied. Who knows a couple of them may surprise us, knuckle down and find some form next year. Is that wishful thinking?

Is that wishful thinking? And it’s worth noting that a player’s form can be affected by those around him, good and bad. Look at Alfie with and without Tony Craig. A good team is about partnerships not individuals.

The way Joey Barton has talked about them in the media ( which I agreed with as it was the truth ) then it's going to be poisonous if we can't get almost all of those left contacted out of to he club by pre season apart from Anssi and Nicholson, and maybe rodman. It's scary looking at what a truely woeful job BG/TW did in terms of recruitment and contacts last summer.I don't know what the wage cap is in L2 if it's one we can get around then if I was Wael then I would give Barton an open checkbook to recruit some top players and get out of the division straight away or we could end up seeing Barton walking or being fired and us having back to back demotions and ending up in Non league again. If we end up with even half of those players on that list still at the club to be in our first team then we are going to be in BIG TROUBLE.

The retained list results in the following...
Only two players remain at the club with more than 50 league starts - Kilgour (67) and Rodman (52). Next best is Jaakkola (42).
Most league goals for Rovers - Rodman (8), Hanlan (7), Nicholson (6).

Davies sounds like he would have stayed if offered a new deal. Mentioned unfinished business in his goodbye tweet. Shame we are lumbered with inferior CBs

I couldn't care less that Leahy has left. Going forward was a good season for him. Defensively I thought he was awful with marking, tracking back and positional sense. Plus this is his second relation.
Still fair play to him if he finds a league one club for more money

Our best CB when fit without a doubt. Agree. A one year deal with an option to extend given his injury record. If he had played as many games with us this season than he did with Barrow, we would have picked up more points.

Need joey to force a few to consider their futures, as can t see some featuring again, would hope none were on Bennett wonga wages, making an exit highly unlikely. As a lot are quite young I’d like to think they have a different mindset than Bennett. He was in the later years of his career and put money before career - the younger players can’t afford to be that short sighted otherwise their time as professional footballers will be short lived.

Sorry to see Leahy go - I guess he feels he can get a better contract elsewhere. Also sorry to see Tom Davies go as I feel he is potentially our best centre back. I think that was Leahy’s best season looking at his age and previous seasons. Even then, he was prone to defensive errors. Not the end of the world. On another note, that is a weak squad of retained players. Let’s hope we recruit well!
