With freedom comes responsibility, in this case a persons mental health, I would be extremely concerned for this brave lady if she reads this thread. She has my total support. What on this thread do you feel would be detrimental to her mental health? I haven't seen anyone say anything negative about her. Its been discussed that social media influencers behaviour can and does effect the behaviour of children who are too young to understand the consequences of copying some aspects of their posting. Lots of moral handwringing and calling people rape apologists because they have first hand experience of children aping the young women they idolize. I have said the same thing of footballers and their behaviour and how that influences young boys. Are we supposed to not raise such concerns because people then think we are sexist? The Her Game too is a great thing. Women should be free to wear what they like too, but sadly that's just not realistic is it because there are still a lot of sad bastards out there. Rapists are abhorrent and its offensive to be compared to scum like that just because you think a 13yr old girl should keep her clothes on on Instagram. Yeah, this thread is sad and sums up a lot of things, but maybe, just maybe not for the reasons many seem to be intimating. Going off track here a bit but social media is a massive problem IMO. I am sick of all of it. It is all about how many likes you can get, how many friends you've got, how many views you can get. I really hate it. Alexis Andre was a typical example the other week. Not his fault, another one that has fell victim to this social media culture.

Bloody glad I don't have girls, because he has it bad sometimes but I think girls have it a lot worse!

I've seen some of the stuff sent direct to my 21yo daughter on all platforms of social media. I told her to report and block. job done. It wont ever stop though

Anybody posting on social media is doing it for attention. That’s the whole point of it! Twitter is a platform based predominantly on sharing a small amount of text and Instagram on pictures. Once shared, it invites other users to like, share or comment. To say you’re not doing it for attention either demonstrates a total lack of understanding or complete naivety. I would also agree that anyone posting pictures of themselves in their underwear or partially revealing their genitalia is definitely seeking attention (male or female). On social media it is the fastest way of growing a ‘following’ other than having a megastar tag you in a post. There are only a few reasons people want large followings in my opinion and that is to get more attention, to spread a particular message or to try and monetise that following. Once you get over 1000 followers on Instagram for example it’s easy to drop in endorsements etc for a fee and/or be sent freebies in the hopes you will post about it. The more followers, the higher the fee/more likely to be sent freebies. That is very simply just how social media works.(Not saying Caz does this as I’m not on social media). So, I can understand the skepticism from some about a bright girl who has very clearly seems to have set out to grow a social media following. I have no idea why she does/did that but when you indiscriminately try and grow a following online it invariably attracts people with a variety of moral compasses. This in turn always leads to idiots going beyond commenting an opinion or being mindful that behind every post is a human in personal observations. For me that is a known by product of growing a following and posting publicly. Again, if you go into something knowing a likely outcome (not saying it’s right) it’s likely that some will have limited sympathy when that outcome occurs. For example (albeit a silly one), if I go to Ashton Gate, sit with the home mutants and continuously sing about how sh** C*ty are and how great Rovers are, the likely outcome is that I will get a good kicking. Doesn’t make it right. Nobody simply singing a song should be assaulted. However, I think most football fans would have limited sympathy for me! I will at this stage also repeat that it doesn’t make it right for people to abuse others on social media or in real life. I am also of the opinion that we all as adults have a responsibility to set an example to the next generation and beyond to behave in a positive way. As a parent of a young girl I can also sympathise with the posters who are uneasy with ‘influencer culture’ and how sexualised it is. It’s totally watering in the wind but social media in general is creating false standards for people to live up to and influencers are simply a pawn in the digital marketers toolbox. It would be great if more people grew a following for positive things rather than wearing not a lot. I don’t feel anyone here vilified Caz but pointed out their unease at how things are being portrayed to kids. I don’t want my daughter to equate wearing very little with popularity or as a way of being heard. To the people that likened peoples legitimate concerns/opinions etc as being rape apologists go f**k yourselves! You just became part of the problem. Lazy stereotypes like that make people nervous about engaging in these types of conversations and seeing as I assume the intention is to educate, you just stopped a huge amount of people from engaging in a way that they might learn. Now as a non social media user I can only pop on and see public stuff and frankly what I don’t understand about this sort of ‘movement’ is the point! The stated aim of HerGameToo is to raise awareness. To who?! I think everyone is aware that there are tw@ts online who send weird things and abusive things. Who isn’t aware of that and what good will awareness do? In my opinion none. I totally agree that no woman (or man) should receive sexist abuse but raising awareness is a pointless exercise! Surely a better aim would be to do something about it?! That’s not solely a criticism of hgt but of all awareness campaigns for creating awareness of something that 99.9% of people are already aware of!

A mate of mine won’t allow his 13 year old on SM and his 15 year olds SM are accessible on his phone so he can keep tabs on what he’s seeing/following/messages etc. Some might feel that’s restrictive but I applauded him for it. He’s already filtered out a few potential issues which if left could have escalated.
