I see all the EFL clubs have agreed to stop showing games on the IFollow platform with the following proviso. Providing they are allowed to operate at a minimum of 75% capacity they will only show games outwith of 1500 kickoffs on Saturdays.

IFollow was allowed this season because of COVID. Come august all should be back to normal and we will be back at the Mem.

It would effect gates as some fans would choose to watch at home (where there's also no control over who watches the game, numbers wise, so 4 or more could watch it for the price of 1 ticket) with the knock on effect they wouldn't buy food or drinks etc at the ground. Another option is to continue to allow season ticket holders a free iFollow code for home games? Although the same issues mentioned above still apply. Although the danger is fans find watching at home more enjoyable and so home gates then drop in the long term.

I would like it to be an option for season ticket holders that if you can’t make a game then you can cash your ticket in for an Ifollow code.
Say if you were away on business on a Tuesday evening or on holiday.

See it’s been confined now. No 3pm Saturday kick offs allowed to be broadcast in the UK.

Ifollow has only really been marketed at fans who mostly already attend games.
I believe there is a market for the very casual fans and those who like football but have never been to a game (and often do not know anyone who goes, therefore dont go themselves).
Some people just can not attend games for many reasons.
Some of these may actually eventually become Mem visitors. They may buy merchandise.
How about ifollow in care homes ? I know of people who went to virtually every game for most of their lives who no longer are able to attend games. Now they cant see the team they followed through thick n thin and invested decades worth of money into.
Ifollow needs to be used in a proactive way to increase the fanbase.

I was going to buy the game Saturday as 1), my first jab is tomorrow morning and I can't attend anyway due to politics. And 2), even tho in principle we should be getting a full house give the lack of fans in the past year and a half we won't due to a lot of fans still being scared and feeling ok with ifollow. The fools that run this have lost out.

The problem is people who are able to watch home games live, physically and financially, still choosing to watch on iFollow. Whole families/ groups can watch the game for a tenner. I agree it would be great if they could sort something for those who genuinely can't make it, but controlling access for just those individuals and stopping others (who would otherwise go) from watching with them would be impossible.

The fools that run this have lost out. So, given there are no longer any legal restrictions on football attendances where the capacity is less than 20,000, why would clubs allow iFollow where they receive only £9 per viewer (which can mean a whole family) when matchday tickets exceed that price? Personally, I don't buy into the "too scared to attend" argument except maybe for the extremely vulnerable supporters. All that has happened is the EFL have decided that the iFollow rules will remain as they always used to be. I hated having to watch iFollow all last season and am delighted to be back in my usual seat for this season. It will be interesting to see the effect on attendances for any midweek games we agree to show on iFollow - will the on the day following reduce as people watch it on TV? I can see the attraction on a filthy Tuesday evening in January but as a season ticket holder it's academic in my case.

I always thought it would be good for iFollow to broadcast midweek games as away fan numbers are greatly reduced due to work commitments & travelling.

It's amazing that we've had 18 months of restrictions and people moaning about how they want it to return to how it used to be....
But now it is returning to how it used to be people are moaning about that....

It is not just the cost of entering the ground the clubs would loose out to if I follow continued but income from hospitality and programme sales.

The reality is in the longer run the club (and other lower league clubs) would most likely lose out by making Ifollow available for Saturday 3pm games. The risk that the match going supporter would evolve into an armchair fan given the option would be significant and reduced attendances obviously impact the value of the event. The right and sensible decision has been made here.

A VPN is the answer for anyone living elsewhere in the UK and wants to carry on getting involved.
