Yes, I was there. The Taylor miss, Stewart hitting the bar and the jeering Huddersfield fans in the carpark. They nicked Stewart off us that summer too! I would have been 14 and the first time I'd cried at a football match. The last time was the Dagenham game, but for a different reason. Love the old Wembley.

Yep . Think that was the most gutted I’ve ever been after a Rovers defeat at the time .

I wasn't there, but I remember listening to it on the radio in the back garden with my Dad. I was 8 at the time, and not ashamed to admit I cried!

Yes I was there ...
Mixed memories of the day .... Massive high hearing the Gas roaring " You're not singing any more " as the teams walked off for half time.
Huge low - Taylors incredible miss and watching HTfans celebrating at the end.
Thought we out played them on the day and deserved more.... wasn't a fan of the kit we wore that day!!

I and my brother , RIchard (RIP) we’re there and we are both very poor losers. A game we should have won, had the better chances but ducked them up. Never spoke to anyone on the coach back and certainly didn’t have drinks afterwards. Gutted

My memory was we were outplayed in the 1st half and lucky to be level at half time. 2nd half we more than matched them and that Taylor miss was truly awful. Great atmosphere especially from Rovers fans who outnumbered Huddersfield support.

Had no choice on kit. Seem to remember the team came back out with the quarters on, after the game. Huge amount of us there that day. Hot and sunny. Shame about the result

I was there. Loved the Old Wembley. Starstruck whenever I went there. The new one was such a waste of money. They should at least have kept the twin towers and Wembley Way. I also remember us being outplayed in the first half and lucky to go in level, but we should have won it in the second half. Glaring miss by Taylor and Stewart was so sharp. When we lost to Tranmere it was a great day out. I was 11, at Wembley for the first time and we’d just won the league so the result wasn’t so important to me. Losing to Huddersfield was absolutely gutting and I just remember waiting with Gasheads for a train and it was just eerily quiet and no one wanted to break the silence. 26 years later and we’ve never been as close to the Championship again.

I was there, was 14/15 at the time.
A real sliding doors moment was Taylors miss. If we had gone 2-1 up I have no doubt we would have won that game, we would have been able to keep Marcus Stewart and with the move to Bristol that was to come, as a championship side, the whole club could have been different. People talk about the missed opportunity in 99/00 under Ollie, but for me, this was the one that was the real kicker.
Instead, Huddersfield signed Stewart, they got a new stadium and the rest is history.

Yes. Sister and her (now) husband drove over from Kent and then they joined me and my dad walking to the game from our house! Only chance I get of not utilising transport to get to rovers games are when we reach Wembley....hence they are also my best carbon footprint days! Got a lump in my throat singing Irene defiantly with the other gasheads after we’d lost. That second half is ironically probably the best half of football we’ve played in any of our four visits to Wembley. Trudging back after the game my sister said she knew we wouldn’t win having seen one solitary magpie on the drive over...that bloody bird has a lot to answer for (and no l don’t mean my sister!!)

Awful day. Remember being shell-shocked outside the ground. Didnt help when Stewie signed for them soon after.

When Stewart’s shot came back off the bar didn’t it fall to Browning who didn’t make the most of a good opportunity? I also recall banners hanging from bridges mocking us as we approached Bristol along the M4 😡!!

Went up with a group of family /friends. Had black and dark green ribbons on the car. Got pulled in by the Police around Swindon, "car reported stolen". Who'd want to steal a battered Cavalier estate + ?? Admitted eventually it was a "cockup". Swear blind he must have been a Swindon fan.

I was the same age and similarly cried my eyes out. And the jeering fans, it was bitter. Saying that, these experiences do definitely build character. It’s why sport is so important for kids. It teaches you that life is full of tragedy but it makes the victories that much better. I remember at maybe 14 beating a team and feeling sorry for their fans. My dad took me to one side and said “son, enjoy every moment. They won’t be sorry for you, enjoy it becuase the bad times hurt”! Quite a contrast to the “everyone gets a medal” generation who are showing now with the incessant shrieking and tantrums that much of these life lessons are being lost!

Like I said, sliding doors moment. Our course of history changed after that massively. 6 years later we entered L2 for the first time instead.
