Can't see we have had to pay him anything. Looks to me he had arranged to go back to Gills and asked us to release him. No brainer for the club. You think he voluntarily gave up his big wage packet here to go back for less money . That’s a first. Why not? Obviously realised he was going to sit on his ass here and Gillingham were happy to take him back. Simultaneous announcements by both clubs gives us a little clue I would suggest that all parties were happy with the outcome. If as the post says he was our top earner, with Bennett also gone, the club has gone a long way to sorting out budget savings.

Ehmer never looked fully committed to us, one of the least inspiring captains we’ve ever had. I’m sure there’s more to his game, Gills fans seem pretty ecstatic that he’s back and they had 250 games of him, problem is we never saw it during his time with us.
Good move that suits all parties really, hopefully now we can reinvest those wages into players that show commitment and desire to do well for the football club.

He should have been good but he wasn’t. Glad he’s gone. Good luck to him back at Gills but in all the games I saw he was never better than ok in some and awful in most. I’ll forgive lack of talent but he always looked uninterested and rarely looked as if he was putting any effort into the game and as if he couldn’t give a monkey’s. Awful, just awful. One thing that might excuse his performances was the fact that all the managers looked not to fancy him at CH and he was clearly never fit. Well done whoever managed to get him off the books. UTG!

If there is one thing I have learnt following Rovers over 50 years is we never quite know the whole story.
I wish Max all the best, probably best for both parties and looks like one our recruitment process didn't get right.

I do wish him luck, sometimes a transfer works out sometimes it doesn’t. The move had everything going for it and had the potential to be a great signing. Unfortunately the complete opposite happened. He’s now gone so we move on UTG

Hopefully some incomings soon, you ideally want your players in place for pre season. Not happy with the squad choices going forward at all.

I knew his contract would get terminated and I knew he would go back to Gillingham it was so obvious.
Oh well glad he's gone as his wages would be very good to get off the bill.
I think we could all see from his performances he had no interest in being here.
He'll fo back to Gillingham and will be a good player again for them

Was over the moon when we signed him, as was pretty much every one.
Not sure why it didn’t click here but one of the worst players I’ve witnessed at the gas.
Would be very typical now for him to go back to Gills and be in team of the year.

A Payne-esque response from Ehmer there having a dig Honestly was wishing him the best but that’s a bit of a water take. I know it doesn’t work out sometimes but f**k me did he even attempt to play football last season??

Nah that’s not a dig. A dig would be saying, back to a proper place to play football, or now that’s a proper place to play football.
Just saying gills is a proper place to play football is actually an ok statement.
Either way, I’m delighted he’s gone. One of the worst signings in our history. Absolutely useless.

Well, useless as he appeared, he's managed to move (back) to a side a division above us.
Maybe our trio of hapless managers didn't know how to get a performance out of him.

Lump of lard had no interest in being here. His interview showed what he thought of signing for us

Good result for all parties, sounds like he came here for the money and did not really have his heart in it and let himself and Rovers down.
