To be fair to Gills , they’ve absolutely rinsed the gas with the players we’ve taken off them and made a tidy profit as well. Well played 👏 Yep, Gillingham have become the new Peterborough.. Or for those with long memories.. The new QPR!!!

Agree with Big Jock, Gassy and 4thusername on this one, don’t take that as a dig at all. More a recognition of his enjoyment last time he played for them.
I’m sure if he’s got any class he’ll issue a best of luck message to the Rovers fans.

Just because they are a proper place to play football doesn’t mean we can’t be considered that by him too? I think people were looking for an excuse to turn him into another Stefan Payne to be honest.

The one thing I can’t contemplate about last seasons transfer activity was who signed off on it all and thought it was a good idea? If it was Wael, he’s shown his inexperience in English football by letting Garner assemble his unbalanced, lazy, naive and unmotivated squad of which Ehmer is a prime example.
I heard the other day that he was involved in Daly’s departure from the club? Hope Wael takes a step back next season and leaves it to the people that actually know what they are doing.

I'm positive it was a dig, most probably to Barton as tit for tat for his public hanging so now they look as bad as each other.

In fairness this time las year most supporters think we had assembled a good squad, it didnae work out that way, but that’s football.

You think he voluntarily gave up his big wage packet here to go back for less money . That’s a first. Why not? Obviously realised he was going to sit on his ass here and Gillingham were happy to take him back. Simultaneous announcements by both clubs gives us a little clue I would suggest that all parties were happy with the outcome. If as the post says he was our top earner, with Bennett also gone, the club has gone a long way to sorting out budget savings. If he was happy to give it up, this would just be a free transfer, job done. Mutual termination, pretty much tells me, Gillingham are paying him less than he is on here, and he has probably got a wedge to make up some of the shortfall

Sounds a good outcome for both parties. Most fans thought he was a great signing - it doesn’t always work out and glad it’s been sorted and we all move on.
It doesn’t particularly bother me whether he was paid off or not - that is for Wael to worry about. My guess would be a very small payoff and certainly not anything like the remainder of his contract paid in full. If he had a relegation clause in his contract with us he may have been willing to cancel his contract and re-sign for the Gills on better wages.

I don’t care about what he tweets. He’s gone and that’s what matters. UTG!

Yes, likely a small pay off if any in order to be released for nothing to sign for Gills. UTG!

He had us over a barrel in a way , not wanted but still a year ( ?) left on his decent contract ( according to Gills manager) . We wanted him gone , he probably wanted to go as well so we have to give him a lump sum to go . Gills can pay him a similar deal to what he had before for them but it’s topped up by the lump sum 3-6 months from Gas . Player no worse off , Gills happy , Gas relieved. Jobs a good un .
