Hey dude, a bit harsh and not my intension. (just expressing opinion which is what a forum is for isn't it?) The division came the day he was appointed and probably won't change until the day he is sacked/leaves/is locked up You have to expect some reaction when you accuse anyone who doesn’t share your views as “ being seduced by Barton’s celebrity”. I don’t see what is to be gained from those sort of comments other than to further antagonise what has already proven a pretty toxic discussion on numerous threads. The team (including JB) were given a positive reception when they came out last night - none of the abuse and booing we were told to expect from the ‘divided fanbase’. I think most people have accepted JB will be our manager for the foreseeable future and will continue to support the team. Ok, I see what you are saying, I guess that statement can be seen as provocative. Yes the team had a positive reception last night as they did on Saturday. I gave them a positive response too but that does not change my feelings about the appointment of JB. I will continue to support our team by attending the games home and away, it's just sticks in the throat and the pit of the stomach that JB associated with the team I support

Everyone on here knows who is anti Barton and who wants him gone. Virtually every thread ends up getting spun in to a Barton dispute. Wael has made his decision and JB is here for the foreseeable future, let’s just get on with supporting our football team until matters reach their natural conclusion. I still don’t get this polarisation people want to create among the fans. It’s a bit like Garner, it wasn’t possible to just want to accept his appointment and give him a chance without being labelled a Garner Fanboy or member of the Garner fan club.

I think people are basing their opinions on his record thus far as manager, same as any other manager at any of the 92 clubs So far he has won 3 out of 20 His tactical awareness is questionable His blaming everyone under the sun is tiresome Ultimately he will be judged on results, and there is little proof thus far that he will turn it around Of course give him time with his squad, we surely all hope we don’t take 4 months to start winning games Good managers get the best out of what they have Can anyone seriously say Barton is coming even close to this benchmark? UTG That’s all fine - we can debate as much as we like on the football merits of whether a manager is doing well, not doing well, needs to be sacked, who do we appoint etc….. I got involved on this thread because this constant division trying to be made amongst everyone drives me mad. Can we not have discussions without people getting called fanboys, member of X fan club, seduced by celebrity, supporting domestic violence because you don’t agree with immediate sacking…..Can’t people just accept other opinions without trying to put down those with differing views?

Not a very good start for you boys /girls but the league has got to be your priority and you have lost just one league game and there is a long way to go. In 1984/85 Everton lost there first 2 league games and went on to win the league, we were rock bottom before Christmas in 1984 the atmosphere was toxic at the games but a miracle happened and it all turned round for what turned out to be the best 3 years of my life.
My point is you can not stop believing for as football fans were in this for life you will always be gas fans there is no option 2
Best of luck on Saturday

Managers and players come and go but most supporters are life long and I support Bristol Rovers football club regardless. We had managers Ive liked the personality of but didn’t like the football and we’ve had managers that I couldn’t stand listening too but enjoyed the results etc. DC had everything for 3 seasons but thats rare in football. I don’t really like Barton , I normally turn off his post match interviews around half way through and his results have been diabolical and think Barton will probably be gone before the end of the season for one reason or another but I’m going to keep supporting the club in the mean time.

What is the BS that lifelong fans are not supporting the club because we are critical of Barton. This complete tosh. Personally I find Barton a repugnant individual, someone I wouldnt recommend being anywhere near the coaching and development. But the BoD saw fit to employee him. Now we concentrate on his performance, how he represents the club. Unfortunately for him he constructed himself a backdrop for that appraisal by slagging off previous managers, slagging off the players, slagging off previous coaching staff, slagging off the previous medics. Then slagging off the referees with every defeat. Which has been just about every game since he has been in charge. So as I do actually support the club, I want them to do well, to be proud of my support for BRFC. How on earth can I be proud of a club that employed such a repugnant man, a man who, post employment, gets charged with beating up his wife, a man who after 20 games in charge has the worse win / loss ratio in the history of all our recent managers. Its exactly because I do support the club that I expect, demand, better. I have been supporting BRFC since 1963. This is the first time I have felt my support wane. The first time that losing a game doesnt ruin my mood. Speaking to others in my age group, they feel the same. So excuse me for being angry.

For what it is worth I supported Barton's appointment. He played at the highest level and had a successful (by and large) tenure at Fleetwood. Yes, he had personal issues but I was prepared to ignore those until the court system had passed a verdict. Innocent until proved guilty etc.
However, his record as a Rovers manager is not good. Somebody stated 3 wins in 20 games. If true, that is unacceptable. I'd give him 10 games total to engineer a winning team. If he can't achieve that then it's time, in my opinion to look elsewhere.
I'm fed up with the constant excuse of blaming previous managerial regimes. This squad is a Barton squad. If he can't get them to win games in the fourth tier it's time to look elsewhere. Having said all that, I hope he succeeds but 2 losing games is not a good start to the season.

Like I said I don’t like Barton but whilst he’s our manager I want him to be a successful one.

Anyone know the attendance last night or is that off limits now? Not report anywhere so I contacted Dave Sams at the club who confirmed 2409. Langlais at 16 could well be the youngest Rovers player to play for the club in the competition. Born Bristol 4 Oct 2004 would be 17 till Oct.

I genuinely believe the team will get stronger as the season progresses, though I suspect we will fall well short of promotion.

I remember a letter to a Sunday newspaper from an angry Toffee writing that he wouldn't set foot in Goodison Park till Kendall had gone. I doubt he was as good as his word!

Well I think the Lagoon’s pretty good , just a tad slow with the drinks if I’m honest. 11 toes. Interesting. I used to go down Ashton Gate a lot, until they found out I didn’t have enough.

Don't feel so bad knowing Gillingham away was waiting in the round 2. Doesn't work like that because the ball numbers are allocated in alphabetical order.... At a quick glance I think it would've been Millwall away (but not 100%).....
