If they all go, won't that leave us awfully short, squad wise? barton did say he wants bring in additions in key areas still so we would be offloading these players to get more in. hopefully ones who are half decent this time... When's time up for transfers then?

richmace, They are not excuses though are they. They are facts. Its ok saying he chose to not build on the current team but can you honestly say that you would want to build on the players we had last season? Last nights team was nowhere near the best team he could have put out but had he put a strong team out and lost two of them to injuries people would be saying he should have played a weakened side. Who would be a Manager eh? Yes they are facts, absolutely.
The goal this season is promotion. To win a promotion, you need to be consistently scoring and winning games. You also have to rely on your squad to step up and play their part when injuries happen.
It is down to the manager to decide how best to achieve the objective given to them. I really, really hope this approach works and JB has positive things to say for the remainder of the season.
My judgement is affected by the negative comments from JB regarding the preparation for last season (he was publicly critical of his predecessors), and his appalling record as our manager so far. I would be as happy as anybody else if that record got turned on its head come May and we all had a team that we could be proud of.
A win on Saturday would be very welcome right now!

Isn't it Widdrington's job now to place or get shot of the players he signed. Eddy Jennings not on the staff, brings them in and according to the manager last night we are still looking to sign more.

I still can not understand how Westbrooke was a class act at Coventry and was wanted by other clubs a while including the Sh@t and yet has been so poor for us I would also get rid of Kilgour a pale shadow of the player he was 18 months ago

Hargreaves and Kilgour have been victims of the sh** managerial situation over the last 20 odd months.
Harries, Baldwin, Barrett and Liddle can all go to Swindon though.

Maybe the transfer speculation was just agent talk?

Westbrooke would be a class act in a winning team which contained lots of hard working players who would give him the ball. He is not interested or equipped to contribute to a struggling team. In such a scenario he is a total liability. In our current situation he is not worth picking.

Hargreaves is a headless chicken who can run around a bit, Kilgour has the physicality and potential to be a great player but needs to sort his positioning and distribution if he's going to be seen as a "ball player".

Think you are being a bit harsh Pirate He’s young, has good ability but needs three things A run of games at centre back in a 4 Not to be played right back An experienced head beside him Then we might see him at his best Him and Hughes and stick with them. Build partnerships. I dread to think how many pairings we’ve had over the last 2 years.

Kilgour is a constant source of goals for the opposition and that was when he was playing centre back. If Clint Hill can't get the best out of him then no one can.

I think the intention is too play with 3 centre backs. Anderton looks like he's been brought in as the left sided option (possibly with Harries as back up) Hughes will play which leaves Kilgour & Taylor as the other. Martinez & Grant can both play there so to me that leaves Baldwin as the odd one out. Hargreaves not in squad last night so would assume if not injured he's likely to go along with Barrett and with JB's comments last night possibly Liddle as well. Once everyone is fit in midfield I genuinely dont see a place for Westbrooke either. Getting rid of them all is easier said than done though

I think he has some good attributes, but pace, distribution and positional sense aren't amongst them at the moment IMHO. The latter two can be improved with good coaching and hopefully he will progress under the likes of Clint Hill etc.

Pace isn't a huge issue from my perspective as long as he has someone quicker to cover for him, having said that he did look like he was stuck in quicksand at points last season so I get your point 😂

Jesus he must have been wearing his invisibility suit for those appearances. Zero impact. At least Kyle Bennett was alright for his first half season.
