Good post - I was beginning to think it was just me, and perhaps I'd watched a totally different game to the majority on here. I was thinking after the first half that we weren’t a million miles off being a squad who will do well this season. And I couldn’t understand what was being said after the other two games which unfortunately I couldn’t make. In the first half we were generating plenty and moving forward well. Harry Anderson caused plenty of trouble down the left. After 55 minutes we seemed to lose our grip on the game. We didn’t look fit enough and stopped generating chances. I think it’s a case of fitness, plugging a gap at LB and upfront. Cian Harries was a bit of a weak spot. We didn’t generate many shots on target but many attempts went a foot the wrong side of the the post or over it. I do wonder how many supporters peddling this line went to the match? We will come good I’m sure of it and then we will be flying. Like some others I’m ok with it at present due to th team having injured players missing/not up ta speed. IMO we’re still doin what we’ve done for 18 months - play reasonably solid, don’t take our chances an concede a goal th other end resulting in confidence draining away. My honest thought is it’s momentum…we’ve become a losing side an are struggling ta break th run, our confidence is shot, an every match turns inta Groundhog Day despite th players giving it their all. I genuinely think when we get a couple of wins by hook or by crook th momentum will go totally th other way.

Nothing gets past him and he covers well. Was m o m according to fans forum v Mansfield. Too early to tell though.... Nothing gets past him, apart from Jamie Reid who skinned him a few times yesterday. Also lost count the amount of times he needlessly gave away possession. Looks poor to me, but as you say, early days Thought he was awful.

Haven't seen any positives since getting back into Lg1 under DC. Since then it's been a complete and utter failure with Managers and Players. Really ? We had two decent seasons in league 1 with dc before it went tits up. I did mean since then.

The only positives I could take out of the game was that Harry Anderson looks useful, Sam Findlay work rate was great to see even though by his own admission he’s not match fit & shouldn’t have started . I am sure when he’s back to full fitness & the return of our captain Coutts our midfield should be a lot stronger. Felt sorry for Luke Thomas as he’s got talent but yesterday had to drop deep to get the ball as he was getting so little service. Good to see the return of Rodman, Nicholson & Collins & with news that Hanlon could feature Tuesday it’s could hopefully be a stronger starting 11.

I've thought of a positive. The pitch looked fantastic, again.

At points it did look like some signs of improvement. Hoole looks solid enough and will improve with experience, Anderson a willing runner, Finley back in and could see what he will be capable of once he gets his eye back in. Nicholson showed a couple of moments of his ability just also a bit rusty can't wait to get him up to full speed.
Really do think we need a spearhead to the attack, someone we can fire balls into who is capable of competing physically with the defenders. If we have someone to do that and hold the ball up a bit, allowing our other players to join up in the attack but also provide a crossing option. This player doesn't necessarily have to be the main goalscorer either, but would occupy other defenders and hopefully create space and chances for our other forwards like Collins, Nicholson, Anderson, Thomas. Is Pitman capable of it? Not sure he also could thrive with a more combative presence alongside him.

Positives - Coutts to come back after Tuesday. Hoole an excellent prospect, Anderson looks useful. Can't wait to see Nicholson and Thomas on the old inside forward positions - defenders won't know which way to turn. Collins, once match fit looks like he could be a decent target man. Hanlan whilst not being a massive goal scorer will hold the ball up well when it's launched from midfield. Pitman could prove a good impact sub. One main criticism I had yesterday was that we left nobody up the pitch whenever Stevenage had a free kick or corner until Collins was on later in the game. This just meant that when we cleared the ball (which we did almost every time) it was sent straight back in. Let's hope we break the losing habit on Tuesday and turn the corner at last. I've seen Rovers play worse and win and whilst I share the frustrations at our dreadful form I believe we have the squad to turn it around. UTG!!

What's the chances of us now signing him with just 2 weeks of the transfer window left. I wonder what decent striker would consider us when Barton could leave at any minute and he's as much likely to slag his players off in the press as praised them.

Agreed it is unbelievable that it hasn't been addressed by now, but it is rovers so somewhat believable too haha. According to Barton, we had agreed with a player to come in (rumours of Cosgrove?) but trumped by a higher league offer. Maybe some better players who haven't been available up to now will become available in the next 2 weeks as other moves take place. But it is disappointing we are at the start of the season now without them in the building already! Probably naive on my part, but I've always thought it would be easier to sell a player on a move when you show them the current squad is lacking in that area. Meaning they would come in as the main player and most likely be one of the first choices each week. But then Stockley didn't go for that and joined a team already full of strikers haha so maybe I'm just trying to hold onto the slim hope!

barton wont be leaving any day soon get that into your thick scull if anything can penetrate it! Bit unnecessary. And yes he will be leaving soon if we don't start getting some points. All managers can be sacked. Wael should know. He's waved goodbye to enough of them in the last few years.
