I thought yesterday we played some very good stuff at times. I think coutts has been sh**e so far this season, but he and Whelan worked really well together I thought. To a man I thought it was a good performance, and if we have a player up top who can move a bit more and win things in the air I believe if we play like that every week we can certainly climb the table. What a great away day. UTG

The truth is Walsall was an away game and they created three chances in 90 minutes and scored with one of those and it was a poor goal to concede but lets put this in perspective . To say Walsall could have been three up whilst strictly correct is really nonsence because very few teams at any level will put every chance they get away and you could say we should have won by five if we had put every chance away. There are games where teams have 20 odd shots and score none..just look at most of Citys games!! I thought for only the second time this season that we were the better side by far and for once our midfield players dominated the game and the only problem was that we over played at times which is the sign of a team down on their luck and feel they have to walk the ball in the n et and attempt one too many pass. Defensively it was very m uch a case of pretty composed throughout then switch off and give the opponents a chance. I said before yesterdays game that although the result was very important for us the performance was almost more important than the result and that performance yesterday gave me hope which I didn't have at all after the last victory against Crawley. There were definite signs that things maybe knitting together yesterday but only time will tell whether it is the first step forward or another false dawn. Leyton orient ? 3 chances 3 goals 3-0 down and game over last week. Walsall’s chances were easier than orients. They weren’t just average chances Walsall had yesterday they were one on ones!!! And they created 4 not 3 they had the chance at the end which we gifted them for an equaliser. I’m not saying we didn’t play well because we did. The point I’m trying to make is don’t get carried away because on another day that could quite easily have been another heavy defeat. We are still gifting gilt edged chances at the back and have f**k all up top. Both ends need sorting if we are to mount any sort of challenge. I will start believing we’ve turned a corner if we play well and beat Swindon Saturday as they have dominated almost every game they have played this season even their defeats. Utg.

i think the way swindon play will suit us ,its all tippy tappy football with no end result, they don.t score alot because of this ,in a way there like us ,there not a hard tackling in your face team which i think will benefit us,like when we played cheltenham

Was away having a break in Croyde I had planned to go to the game, but our social club could not get the numbers to run a coach. I followed online, but gave up after 67 minutes and resigned myself to another Gas defeat. I checked again at 6pm expecting the worst. What a lovely surprise! Truly brightened the rest of weekend even though it rained most of the night. That is what it means to us however bad it gets away gas win will brighten your life. I didn’t care how we won I was just happy we did, though I am glad that it seems it was well deserved. Is this where we start to turn the corner and our fortunes finally change, I truly hop so. Not getting carried away, but get something against Swindon and we can maybe begin to dream a little UTG

swindon data last match,68 % possesion,13 shots ,[6 on target] ,5 corners, yet still could not score, they average 1 goal a game.they only had 1 yellow card, and only 7 fouls conceded, feel confident we won,t lose ,and think good chance will win

I remember us having a lot of possession under garner but can’t ever remember us having many attempts at goal Like Swindon do. I could be wrong I’ve tried to blank out his tenure.

Who's actually getting carried away, I assume most posters are just content that we finally put in a decent performance which was rewarded with a victory and that meant we pulled away from the trap door. We also don't have to face a week of upheaval before the Swindon should Barton have been dismissed if we'd lost.

Lots of people hear will hate that result Agree totally. Walsall fans. City fans. Oldham, Scunthorpe, Stevenage and Mansfield fans will all be irritated by it. Hate to say I don't think it'll really bother that lot down the road. Would be nice if it did but don't think I'll win the banter fight with work colleagues on Monday. Would be nice if it did

I was just warning against complacency because that win shouldn’t mask over what are clear deficiencies still in our side. Anyway great to get the win Let’s hope we don’t suffer anymore injuries in training this week and can go again strong on Saturday. 🙌

What happens is the fans get frustrated at the missed chances and then the players start wanting the gilt edged chance...which rarely arrives. The players start getting shot shy and the defeats start rolling in. My guess (even when they were in a promotion spot) was they will finish 18th. If BG keeps his job they will do better next season if he can improve a few players in the squad.

Walsalls chances were far better than ours. At least 2 one on ones? It was far easier to take theirs than ours. I’m not complaining I’m just adding some perspective. That was no different to previous games where we have given away chance after chance with awful defending. Even right at the death we almost threw it away with awful defending from the ball in. We were due some luck as recently all those defensive errors have been punished and today they weren’t. Much welcome. Kilgour seems the culprit for all those chances, the first it seemed far easier to cut out the cross out with his left foot than the right he choose, the others he got caught out by balls over the top, somehow he needs to cut out the errors as neither Hughes or Anderton seem any better at RCB, perhaps Grant's an option if he doesn't improve? Talking of Grant I don't think we must him at all in midfield yesterday. Yeh all the main chances came through their inside left position,Kilgour territory. The chance right at the end was the worst error of all as Kilgour came rushing forwards to head it and it ended up going about 2 yards over his head.I don’t like to criticise individual players but he did seem to have a bit of a shocker in our big defensive incidents.
