That's the modern way of policing football these days, let the actions play out on the day, get everything on camera and then follow up with a 6 a.m. knock a few weeks later. Shame they don't focus more energy on real crimes instead of easy targets. Police are a joke nowadays. Having been at the game it was quite clear there were a handful of "fans" who were always going to go on the pitch if given the chance. Was definitely in the minds of a few that they would just be idiots because it made them look good to their mates. I had a chat and a laugh with a few stewards and police. For those old enough that was unheard of not too many years ago. It's not the first occasion I've been to an away game and been embarrassed to be in the same crowd as some "supporters"

What they should have done is run on the pitch, glue themselves to the pitch, say they were trying to save the planet and the Old Bill would likely bring them tea and biscuits with a pillow and blanket if you asked nicely.🤪

I give up ‘, so fed up with all the bullshit surrounding fans being criminalised for ‘ celebrating ‘ a long awaited away win - plus all this lunacy regarding the presentation of the cheque ( Martin Belsten memorial) it’s all absolutely ridiculous ! 💙

The last time I went there cashed were standing instead of sitting, blocking the highways so nobody could get to the toilets and the police, when approached didn't want to know. They definitely like an easy life particularly when it comes to catching real criminals and also if these criminals belong to the same Freemasons lodge.

Even I managed to fall foul of West Midlands Police at Fellows Park - they love to treat an easy target with a heavy hand.

Yeah, I remember the L1 promotion day (pics above) we had to go and visit friends at the bottom of Gloucester Rd at about 7, so left the Mem to get ready. We start walking down Gloucester Road and it is absolutely heaving outside the Vic, with both sides of the street packed and it all spilling on to the road, there's a traffic jam where the cars are trying to crawl past the Vic, and we walk through the crowds, and some twat PC decides to shout at us for walking in the road. We're kinda dressed up, and looking civilised so he takes out his fear and loathing of the Gas by shouting at us. There's five hundred Gas in the road but this lady garden doesn't have the courage or nous or whatever to do anything about it (and why should he?) but decides to take out his frustration on two middle aged 'respectable' civilians (he would have had no idea we were actually Gas) doing our best to walk down the street. Still remember what an absolute prick that guy was.

The people currently demonstrating are facing jail sentences under new Tory legislation. Do people get tea and biscuits in prison? From the sounds of it, you will be one of those that says that jails are way too cushy. Having been in many (for work I must stress) they are nothing like the Mail and such rags make out.

I rather suspect that if any jail sentences are handed out, they will be suspended ones.

You may well be right. My point is that under the new legislation,a custodial sentence is possible for blocking the highway. I am sure I would be very irritated if I was on the M25 and the road was blocked, although having used that particular road on many occasions, it is stationary most of the time anyway. I did have to laugh when a reporter interviewed a woman on the M25 affected by the protests- asked how she felt, she said that she was now going to be late to meet a friend and that "these people need to look at the bigger picture" Oh the irony! Which is bigger, the future of our planet or her meeting a friend? Obviously the latter in her view.
