The Sun have added in that article a very long list of incidents that JB's has been involved in. It's a shocking read. Cannot believe he got our managers job and I cannot believe people like him. He faces a delayed trial accused of assaulting former Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel. Barton was boss of League One Fleetwood at the time of the alleged 2019 incident. He has been convicted of two violent crimes, spending time behind bars, and been charged with violent conduct by The FA on three occasions. In 2004 while at Manchester City, he sparked a mass brawl during a pre-season friendly. During a Christmas party that year Barton, dressed as Jimmy Saville, lost his rag when he caught youth player Jamie Tandy attempting to set his shirt on fire. In retaliation, furious Barton stubbed a lit cigar out in Tandy's eye, leaving his teammate with a burnt eyelid. City charged Barton with gross misconduct and was fined £60,000. Barton apologised for his actions and Tandy later sued his attacker, winning £65,000 in damages. Just six months later Barton was aggrieved by comments made by a 15-year-old Everton fan at a Bangkok hotel, resulting in a fracas. In 2006 he pulled his shorts down and exposed his bum to Everton fans. The FA warned Barton about his future conduct and he was fined £2,000 for bringing the game into disrepute. Barton had a violent training ground fight in 2007 with former teammate Ousmane Dabo, who suffered head injuries, including a detached retina, after the bust-up and was left needing hospital treatment. After initially pleading not guilty to assault, Barton changed his plea to guilty and received a four-month suspended jail sentence plus 200 hours of community service. He was also punished by the FA with a 12-match ban - six of which were suspended - and handed a £25,000 fine. After moving to Newcastle United, Barton was arrested in Liverpool city centre in 2007. CCTV footage captured the footballer punching a man 20 times, causing him to lose consciousness. Barton pleaded guilty to common assault and affray and was sentenced to six months behind bars. He served 74 days of his prison terms before being released in July 2008. He was in trouble once again in 2010 when he punched Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen during a 2-1 defeat for Newcastle. Barton was charged by the FA over the incident and admitted to violent conduct, earning himself a three-match ban. Battle lines were drawn when Barton declared war on the cast of TOWIE in 2011. When he got some stick back on Twitter from the likes of Mark Wright and James Argent, Barton claimed Arg had teeth "like a burnt down fence". Arg confessed Barton's joke about his teeth was part of the vicious trolling he received which led to a dark downward spiral. In one of the most dramatic matches in football history, Barton was sent off for elbowing Carlos Tevez in the throat on the final day of the season in 2012. He was suspended for 12 games and fined £75,000 after being charged with two acts of violent conduct against Aguero and Kompany. In the wake of the dismissal, Barton launched an expletive-ridden Twitter attack on Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker. "Firstly, I think it is really important to confirm that as a club we stand firmly against any form of violence. Any individual that is found guilty of any such offences will be dismissed immediately" Wael Al-Qadi, who hired him to represent our club 👏 Are any of these episodes worse than being convicted of drink driving - there is a long list of premiership footballers and other players of the EFL convicted of this offence including a certain past player of this club. Irresponsible behaviour of young men putting innocent lives at risk - are these people being pilloried like this man - pilloried because it suits an agenda of some people that want him out.

No they aren’t. Do those people keep drink driving over and over though? Or do they learn from their mistake and then stop? Who knows - but JB hasn’t been convicted of anything for the best part of 10 years. His performance as a football manager at our club is a different story and if people focussed on that rather than his past life is more understandable. His past does not need to be continually raked up - his performance as manager of our football club though is totally justified.

How is that remotely relevant though? All they have posted is factual information. Its not. She just doesn't like it. If by "it" you are referring to The Sun - you are correct.

This is the thing for me though Tilly, people do make mistakes…all of us. Barton doesn’t seem to make mistakes, he seems to constantly not learn and always be in some sort of drama. He could have us 15 points clear at the top of the league and I wouldn’t want him here for this reason, I don’t want anyone to agree with me, that’s just my personal views

Personally I'd dismiss him now as I can't see we're making any progress on the footballing side of matters, not because he was convicted of crimes a decade ago and talks a load nonsense during his pre & post match issues. Although with the transfer window closed for months I can understand why is still hoping Barton can turn things around when more players return to fitness/stop getting needless suspensions.

If you're going to quote a post attempting to goad and ridicule me, you sure as hell better be on the money. But surprise, surprise Topper - you've gone and made yourself look a complete t*t. Again. Where in the post have I said if Barton wins I'd support him? Or that if he wins he isn't a vile human being? What I said (partly tongue in cheek, but even ignoring that) is that IF he won, maybe he'd start picking up points and prove me wrong. Honestly. This is a low point, even for you.

Man this place is very polarised.
Am I the only one on the fence on this one?
On the one hand, I understand he’s decisive and has a bad history of criminality. The results have been lacking. I could say he also has a big mouth and makes bold claims.
On the other hand, he’s driven and ambitious, and wants to succeed and prove a point. I think some of the recruitment has been good and I like the idea of totally overhauling the club. I also think in spells we’ve looked really good going forward.
The one thing that puts me on the “in” side is I just don’t want a new manager, a new vision, a new set of players. AGAIN. Half the new players have said they went to us because of him. Overhauling that again is a task in itself.
I have never joined a “manager out” campaign as I fed football fans are generally fickle and short sighted. I also just generally don’t like the idea of hounding people within the club I support. It feels vindictive.
I say this while not being fully bought in. I’m not sure if this is going to work out to be honest
In summary I don’t actually know. I just find being against anyone so vehemently a big spiteful. Also, it seems the easy option to just say “manager out” when we aren’t winning.
I had to endure “bloody Clarke you’re a non league manager” in the east terrace before the guy had really been given a chance and I feel it’s kind of the hymn sheet of a lot of fans to constantly berate a manager and be critical of them if we aren’t top 6.
I feel this project/team is better than the John ward side, Graydon side, the mark mcghee side and the buckle side. League position isn’t reflecting that but I feel this squad could fly if they were tighter at the back and could compete better with physical league 2 sides. This feels more of a league 1 type playing staff (not as good but in style) and league 2 teams who are good at set pieces and defending crosses drag us down to their level and beat us with experience
