Lots to unpack from it. Hasn’t done much to change my opinion on the bloke though. Yes, I'd say that it's a reasonably balanced article, whereas the selective Tweets are not. The selected tweets are of particular relevance to us due to the managers recent treatment of Luke Thomas, who has also reportedly suffered with his mental health.

Yeah, and imagine just how hard it must be look for something bad St Joey of Bartonshire has done. The amount of rimming that goes on by certain individuals on this forum in unbelievably pathetic. Literally the equivalent of Trump supporters but in support of Barton instead. Back to the original post - appalling. Utterly, utterly appalling. What a vile scumbag of a human being this lowlife is. He could literally murder the Queen and people on here would still make excuses for him

Especially when it was literally published today by a major football news outlet and being shared all over social media A football news outlet that is behind a paywall. For me it showed the exact reasons I don’t believe that he should have ever been considered to be our manager. He CAN be quite the smooth operator but more often than not he will continue to let himself down, he has a switch and when it’s gone it’s gone…like shouting at journalists outside of crown court. It also shows another worry of mine …he’s deluded and thinks he’s better than he is. It does show he has the will to win and can be persuasive but can he ever get over the detractors and just focus on being a good manager….for me no

Glad you brought this up pirate, it is a very interesting article. It is very thorough and goes into a lot of detail explaining Barton's upbringing and his relationship with his father while also not skirting around his misdemeanours. Although, this was what stood out to me. I thought as much on the thread the other day:

The screenshots that were shared on twitter weren't I have read the article though and much of it I was already aware of. It was news to me about the appalling treatment of some of those players under his management though. I'd like to think Bristol Rovers have some kind of player welfare safeguarding process in place to protect them from any kind of in-workplace bullying.. but who knows?

Can we change the name of this thread to the Barton hater thread please, thet are out in force tonight, music to their ears So an article in a national news outlet is released about our manager and we shouldn’t discuss it because some of it isn’t very complementary about him. Alrighty then.

But on a lighter side, there was also this: It also tickled me the part that said he thought he would have won 50 caps for England had it not been for his bad boy rep.. and even now he thinks he should be managing at a much higher level (eg. Man City)

Alrighty then. The Barton Cult is very clear about this. Also; don't forget that (despite being 17th in League One after 20 games and a previous relegation as rock bottom club under his belt) - if we win tomorrow we've "turned a corner"

You dont have to go looking for much to question his suitability to be a manager to varying degrees
I mean Joey basically rubbished the entire division and belittled his own team in the process today. Which doesnt exactly reflect well on his own abilities if you flipped it.
Trying to be clever, when he really isnt

It's a composition I don't like and for me he just hits all the wrong notes. Still I din't fret, his record speaks for itself and he is clearly a trebled man.

Who is this player Taylor? The only one I can find when JB was manager is Ryan Taylor a senior pro who joined Fleetwood at the start of the 2018-19 season. Played 11 games and was released at the end of the season. Subsequently joined a non league club in the North East. A tweet from a Stevenage supporter, picked up by a disgruntled Barnsley supporter after JB was acquitted last week and then put up on here by Pirate. No doubt more will follow especially if he walks free this coming week from the Magistrates court. It was Ryan Taylor. This below is from a previous article in The Athletic: "He left the club in March 2019, three months before the end of the season due to a disagreement with former manager Joey Barton, who had been a former team-mate and friend from his days at Newcastle. He gathered his belongings and left the club. He felt there was no point picking up his wages after a fallout with a manager, where he was not going to play. He has not spoken to Barton since, but his frustration was more with how his exit was not announced until the summer when Fleetwood released their retained list. As a result, there was a feeling he had called time on his career with Barton quoted during the season suggesting Taylor was weighing up the decision." Ironically his last appearance was a last 5 minute substitute one in the game we beat them 2-1 at the Mem. 4 yellows for us, 7 for them and Evans sent off. James Clarke scored the injury time winner. Barton was obviously right about him, signed him after a trial period with a contract until end of the season. Played all his games early on and could never get back in the side. He had just returned from playing abroad and never played again in the football league, something that Barton could hardly be blamed for.Sounds like even if he did walk away, they honoured his contract, hence why he was on the not retained list at end of the season.
