The most eye opening bit is : It is therefore no wonder that Lansdown is seeking outside investment, which could be much more than just a stake in City. Indeed, an article in The Athletic on the state of Championship club ownership last month detailed how the, "search for help, and potentially a full takeover, is underway" at City. Sounds like he has had enough of wasting millions and being abused by the fans! Be careful what you wish for! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ANSWER THE CALL MIKE ASHLEY!!!!!!!!!!

Under Ashley N'Castle stayed in the promised land and made the club financially viable. Did they make a profit? Of course that is not enough for the "massive" N'Castle. When was the last time they won something?

Firstly I confess to being a 'Rovers supporter for some 70+ years BUT we are a two club city and the rivalry is precious. Harry Dolman and I had many a discussion about which was the best Club and in those days it was close. Bristol City is far and away the best Club in all departments but like us they rely on their owner to keep them alive as we do. Both owners deserve every respect because we all know they MUST be losing money. But Rovers fans please do not think we are the best because we are not and we could easily lose our Club someday soon. So might City, but we believe their 'moneyman' is wealthier than ours. Regardless. both clubs should respect the other.

Typical anti Wael post from Fanatical, perhaps he could explain how we could lose a virtually debt free club anytime soon?

I'd swap Bristol Sport men's soccer franchise's "failure" for our "success".

Typical anti Wael post from Fanatical, perhaps he could explain how we could lose a virtually debt free club anytime soon? Easy. Wael said the losses were approx £4.5 million due to covid last season. This season we have paid up several players contracts, brought in around 30 players and backroom staff ( signing on fee/ relocation allowance plus wages etc and got rid of around 15 other staff ( possible redundancies). The break even figure was breached pre Evans, Brown, Clarke etc so expect another £3-4 million loss. £8 million in two seasons cannot be sustained. What if we "go for broke" again next season?

They folded in 2012 when they became the Bristol Sport soccer franchise. I appreciate its hard to keep up, they have trouble themselves, having attempted to have numerous different dates on all their different club badges as well as several centenaries.

Thought he said losses were £3m, regardless why would this season's losses be similar when fans have been allowed back into the Mem? Whatever the debts are now is Wael really going to write off £20m+ last season, spend £2m/£3m on The Quarters, fully back Barton, only to then put the club into Administration, what business sense would that be.

I don't think Wael does it as a business proposition. He just wanted to own a football club, found us, and I think he genuinely loves Bristol Rovers. It's cost him a bit more dosh than he anticipated, but I think his heart is in the right place. Let's hope his wallet is too.

Bristol City made a pre-tax loss of £38.4m for the 2020/21 financial year.
The results compare to a pre-tax loss of £10.1m for the 2019/20 financial year “and reflect a Covid-hit season without crowds and a significantly impacted transfer market”.

I thought you're not allowed to lose more than £13m in the Championship before a points deduction. Do they get some leeway from the lack of attendances from last season?

Would be interested to see what leeway clubs are given due to Covid, if anyone knows it
