I don't think the criticism of our forwards is totally justified ok they did not get on the score sheet, but they did contribute to the game and lets not forget that Sinclair's goal came from a spill of Taylor's shot. As the saying goes "its a team game"

But simply not scoring enough goals, so the strikers are hardly making loads of goals normally for the other players.
If out strikers were OK then DC wouldn't have brought in Wall & Goldberg?

Think now is the time for our board to stump up the money required to get us that much need striker.....learn from last year's mistake. We can go up this season and all that money will be worth it's weight in gold come the end .. I agree with you .Who do you think it will be then ?.

what we need to do is get De La Verde from Fulham. He would have taken the game to Gateshead last night and put a stop to their arrogant keep-ball tactics in the first half. That said, hats off to DC, I didn't know what the hell we were going to do to get a foot in the game because Gateshead were running the show and taking the p!$$ in the first half. That's why he's the manager and thank God for that, rather than some of the know-all Clark out merchants that get on here every time we don't play well. That said, everyone has an opinion, including the moaning old git beside me last night. Honestly, after 10 minutes he might as well have gone home, criticising and groaning and telling Clark he was useless, the worst team we've ever had....Really, missed the Graydon, Buckle and McGhee ereas did you? What a strange thing to say ?? If you have the ball then the other team can't score. I thought Gateshead's football was a breath of fresh air - great movement, composure, excellent on the deck passing (and they went looking for a second) - isn't that what you want pro footballers to do ? That's what I want our team to do ! If we go up back to L2 - it's this kind of footy that will give us a chance of going up another level. You can't always sustain high octane football - Ward's team had this at the start of his reign but unsurprisingly couldn't sustain it.

I have been expecting Lucas to start to get game time in the second half of the season. We have a fair number who can play up front; creativity on the flanks would be a priority for me.

Anyone think Leadbitter on the wing is worth a shout?

With Gosling, Balanta & Harrison all capable of playing on the wing I can't see we need to turn Leadbitter into a winger?

Anyone think Leadbitter on the wing is worth a shout? I've advocated this from the start. and it;s not quite the same situation as Smith. yes, Smith was ropey at the start, and always had promise as a defender and then became a really good right back. I'm not sure Leadbitter will be a good right back, but his attributes lend themselves well to being a winger/wide MF, or at least a wing back.

Never thought Smudger was strong enough but shows what I know.On the bench at Posh currently.Agree ,we do need more fire-power and current strikers not Top Notch.Other than LDV .loanee strikers do not have enough quality. We need to aim higher than loans from Cambridge,Dagenham etc as LDV has proved.

sorry guys but lets get some perspective, we are NON league, the standard of our strikers is almost as good as it gets! Taylor for example has an excellent football brain and if could finish would be playin much higher. it is just the reality of our position.
and as for attracting a better standard of loanee, most will want league experience. we were very lucky with ldv that he looked amazing at this level, never had played higher than the fulham development team and that DC is good friends with ther manager.
lets fet behind what we got and hope for the best!! bah humbug utg!!

Although, as others have said, wouldn't it be amazing to be a gashead if we had someone scoring 20 goals a season like akinde will, and/or a goal scoring midfielder like harry beautyman (already snapped up of course). Funnily enough this is now exactly the time we need to be finally making something of being a 'big' team, in a big exciting city, getting big support, with (hopefully) decent facilities, development and infrastructure for players, and a good reputation for players going onto bigger things.

Problem is where's the money coming from for a big signing given there's no sign of Sainsbury's paying us anytime soon?

Akinde - 18 Taylor - 6 (all competitions) What are you on about? sometimes players do well in a given situation at a club. allen is gettin the best out of him, jus like the odd manager would with someone like heskey, but he isnt that good. he was awful for us, awful for city and was anonymous against us at the mem, so thats what im on about. blisset and taylor will come good!!

Akinde was also good, or at least good at scoring, at Alfreton last season, perhaps he's just found his level? Whilst he was poor at the Mem he was good at the Hive.
Whether Blisset can get to his level PDQ may define our season. Unfortunately you sense it's as good as it will get with Taylor, who seems to have gone backwards since the Barnet game.
