I’m not so sure Think managers would rather play if they could A fixture congestion in a league which already plays 46 league games will take its toll in other ways As someone pointed out, didn’t do Leicester any harm last night!! UTG I don’t think so at all, if you’ve got a few key players out for a couple of weeks you’d surely want it postponed? We literally waterlogged our own pitch in 2007 to avoid playing Stockport 😂 And if most teams are doing it we're all pretty much in the same boat anyway.

I'm not saying I want us to play. I'm saying there's logic to me in saying to the entire football pyramid, if you have enough players in your squad to play, including U21's, then every team should be able to play. I don't know whether we have enough or not, but my main point stems from those at the top end of the game complaining they don't have enough players which is patently false, as they have squads of dozens of players. And by extension, as I don't like to be outright biased towards my own club simply because I support them as that would render my argument invalid, I would make every club in the football league follow the same criteria. Some clubs still might not be able to play, which would be fair enough in my view. I don't want us to have an unfair disadvantage, but if every club plays by the same set of rules, there wouldn't be an unfair disadvantage. You do realize that, unlike a thigh strain, that Covid is contagious right? It also has a gestation period when it can be passed on but a carrier can be asymptomatic. If you have covid in the squad then there is a chance someone may have it but will play. This not only exposes our own squad to risk, but also the opposition team and officials. I assume this is why the league are allowing suspensions and not forcing teams to play. Imagine if we played half the first team squad who had been exposed to players with Covid and the rest made up of kids and we passed covid on to a full strength Crawley side. It won't be long before someone gets taken to court. Yep, fair point Hugo.

Be nice to have an injury update this week. Don’t think Wel get one mind if we want New Year’s Day called off.! I’m only interested in if Taylor’s fit again 😅

We'll know when Taylor's fit, as that'll be our first game back from our mini break!

The last we heard Saunders jak and Hughes were also back on the grass I’m sure it was said. So they all surely must be nearing a return. It wouldn’t surprise me how this seasons gone if we’ve got a few more injured to replace them even without playing.

I'm a Gashead living in Sussex. Locally, I support Lewes FC. I am baffled that clubs with players who are full time professionals can't keep them Covid free. Lewes FC players have jobs in addition to football yet the club isn't postponing matches left right and centre. Monday night 1300+ fans crammed into Horsham's small ground and on 1st Jan we'll host Bognor Regis with probably 1500.
If small clubs can do it, why can't the pro clubs?

This is what can happen if teams are forced to play.
Belenenses' Portuguese top-flight match against Benfica was abandoned early in the second half because the home side had only six players on the pitch - having been forced to start the game with nine men, including a goalkeeper as an outfield player.
A Covid outbreak had left Belenenses with 17 players unavailable and their nine men were already 7-0 down at half-time.
And, after a delayed break, the team third from bottom emerged with just seven players due to injuries before a further injury immediately after the restart left them with only six - resulting in an immediate abandonment.
A dark chapter for Portuguese football - Rui Costa
Benfica president Rui Costa said his side were "forced" to play, adding the two bodies who could have postponed the game, the league and the Directorate-General for Health, did not do so.
"I regret what happened today, a dark chapter for Portuguese football and for the country itself," he said.
Manchester City's Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva wrote on Twitter earlier in the match: "What is this? Am I the only one who doesn't understand why the game hasn't been postponed?"
Sporting Lisbon, third in the table behind Benfica, released a statement saying: "Portuguese football as a whole is seriously harmed today.
"What is happening has serious implications for the credibility of this championship and the institutions that regulate it."
They added: "What made this situation possible must deserve a deep reflection by all those who defend the sporting truth and must deserve national attention at the highest level.
"It is already receiving international attention and marking yet another dark episode in Portuguese football."

How often are they testing the players. May be a case now more tests are in place for league teams more cases are found. There can be those who don't know they have covid until they test. So players in these other games may not be covid free!

Seems that Millwall are keen to play tonight.
MillwallFC set to include 15 year old Zak Lovelace on the bench at Coventry tonight, with only 14 senior players - inc 2 goalkeepers - available. Lovelace is travelling to the Midlands this afternoon after the club received permission from parents & his school

I can't recall we've had any decent updates on Jaakola? It's also looking likely Hughes will be joining Plymouth in January, so it looks like only Saunders will he returning to playing out of those three.

I know it’s good that injured players have a bit more recovery time, but let’s not underestimate the impact on fitness for those that have caught covid. It was one of the things JB blamed our slow start on. Last thing we need is our best players huffing and puffing when we return!

We are playing the covid card like all the other clubs with a injury and suspension list. Absolutely agree; Christmas at home in the Wirral, why wouldn't you. The closer Joey can get to the transfer window without playing matches has to be good for BRFC, especially with CT probably going back to the Stokies, and AK out for the foreseeable; definitely gives Joey a chance to make phone calls and hopefully bring in the cavalry.
