Wonder if anyone that needs Pitman can afford to take him and pay his wages? Wouldnt be surprised at a loan deal with us picking up some of the wages.

Yep I'm a newbie... Tell me, what was your username on the original BRFC Forum? I'm guessing you were there too, after all? The turn of the century was probably the heyday, up to about 2006. I'll give you a clue, mine was very similar to this username. Newbie indeed! Keep going, this is fun. You making friends again old fruit

I never find myself hoping Barton would throw on Pitman from the bench. I guess that says it all for me, we have better options for the way we want to play Considering we look better and pick up more points without a traditional centre forward i feel inclined to agree with you. Collins didn’t get much change out of their strong defenders in the air on Saturday but he was a constant thorn in their side and got the winner. Collins is another one who is probably best played as a number 10 or. 7 or 11 in the 4-2-3-1.

Hope this is a perm and not a loan with us picking up most of the wages still. Either way, good luck Brett and thanks for the goals at the start of the season. Wont see a better header than the BRadford goal

Reminds me of when we signed Scott McGleish. Was working in London at the time and an old colleague was a big Orient fan and thought we’d pulled off a cracking signing. Came in for half a season, scored some goals for us, then fell out of favour as his league playing time came to an end before being moved on elsewhere for the remainder of the season.

Great somersault when he scored on his debut.Oldest Gas player to score on his debut.

Strange purchase, offers nothing, doesn't do it for me, he can go.

Strange purchase, offers nothing, doesn't do it for me, he can go. Offers nothing is harsh IMO - until recently he was one of our top goalscorers. A more accurate assessment would be "doesn't offer enough" (these days, based on the assumption that he's earning a fair wedge).

A more accurate assessment would be "doesn't offer enough" (these days, based on the assumption that he's earning a fair wedge). You could argue that is partially because our formation/tactics too. He is still a proven goalscorer - but he will feed off scraps in and around the box. You can't play him as a lone striker and hoof balls up to him and expect him to consistently win the ball, beat a player and create himself a chance.. just as you can't expect him to press defenders and force mistakes. I don't think that has ever been his type of game. But if you played him with a big lump or a willing runner and create him chances then he will finish them more often than not. I wonder if we had had him in our squad last season whether his experience and goalscoring ability would have made much of a difference? (not that it helped Swindon stay up... ) As I seem to recall our problem last season wasn't with creating chances, but turning them into goals..

He’ll probably do quite well at that level with his know how. Still a terrible signing.

...couldn't ever see Brett doing a somersault Maybe a Roley-Poley Perhaps, but this isn’t gymnastics it’s football and his goal record over many years across all divisions of the EFL is better than we’ve ever had over the past 20 years. And as percy said you won’t see a better header than the equaliser at Bradford. Good luck to him at Eastleigh. Thanks Brett, your 4 goals may yet be priceless at the end of the season. UTG!

Strange purchase, offers nothing, doesn't do it for me, he can go. Well, iirc when he signed we had done the same as the previous summer, recruited everywhere except strikers. What was strange was that we all knew getting a striker was meant to be the priority. And yet again it was left late so at the time it seemed a good signing, imo. Its only now when we’ve seen how this team has evolved that we can see he doesn’t fit in so well. But his 4 goals may yet be pretty valuable come the end of the season. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! 😉 UTG!

There is no room for nuance anymore; everyone - player, manager, owner, guy running the club shop - can only be the best ever or a pile of shiiite. Its the rules now.
