Joey pre match interview says Pitman is free to look at other options Well that’s the end of that then! Just 2 days to sort his life out seems reasonable 😂.

Shame, but you need players to put a shift in and if BP isn’t scoring goals he isn’t doing much else.

If he is going, I sincerely hope we have another striker coming in.

If he is going, I sincerely hope we have another striker coming in. Why it's not like Pitman's played in every match or scored some vital goals, assuming L Clarke is fit with Saunders return we've four decent strikers, I'd imagine if we sign one he'll only be a youngster.

I don’t think Pitmans done much wrong in his 13 games. True he’s not the most mobile, but he knows where the goals is and he’s our 3rd top scorer. If he goes I wish him well.

Probably passing on plenty of knowledge to younger players, people are to quick on here to slag off experienced pros when they couldn't even make their school team.

Pitman is what he is and he has contributed for us. Those two assists against Walsall and the goals against Colchester and particularly Bradford earned us 5 points which could be vital at the end of the season. If he goes I wish him well.

Depending on what is coming in, I am sad to see Brett go. Have we forgotten him chipping the keeper from about 18 yards, with a header? He never looked fully fit to me, my guess is that’s why he’s being let go.

Andy Rammell was immobile but did the business when it mattered.Remember when John Still did the pre match warm up,Andy looked shattered but still put in a shift.

Any player that’s bombed out after half a season is a failure. Surprised at some of you . Wish him all the best but glad he’s moving on .

Can't see that Bret has done owt wrong, we knew what he could and couldn't do when we signed him and on a couple of occasions he has made valuable contributions and prob still could, thing is when we signed him we had no one else now we have a few options, don't mind a man of his experience being around but i am also fine if he leaves us, i would wish him well as he nears the end of his career.

Any player that’s bombed out after half a season is a failure. Surprised at some of you . Wish him all the best but glad he’s moving on . He’s scored some important goals and created some too. He can hardly run but has contributed. If he leaves this season we’ll never know if he would have gone on to score more important goals or not. Perhaps JB has another signing up his sleeve who knows. I’d imagine Pitman is on top whack for league 2 and is clearly down the pecking order. We’ll see.

www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joey-barton-makes-decision-brett-6572278Joey Barton will allow striker Brett Pitman to leave Bristol Rovers before Monday's transfer deadline, the manager revealed on Saturday. Pitman has struggled for playing time since joining the Gas as a free agent in the summer. The 33-year-old has scored four goals and registered one assist in 18 games for Rovers. He joins Gas defender Junior Brown in being given permission to assess what opportunities are available before trading ends at 11pm on Monday. "We’re going to let Brett explore the market," Barton said. "We had a chat with him during the week and I think, the way we want to be and what we want to do, it hasn’t quite worked out for him. "It’s going to be difficult to give him opportunities now based on the players we’ve got at our disposal. "If you’ve had a career like Brett has had, you want to go out playing. You don’t want to go out being 19th man and not playing on a matchday. "It’s different if you’re 20 and you’re developing, but not when you’re 33, so, I wanted to give him that opportunity. "I spoke to him after the Scunthorpe game about exploring the opportunity to see what is out there for him. So, he’s doing that now with his agent." Pitman's highlight in a Rovers shirt was the stoppage-time equaliser at Bradford City in October, and he also scored what should have been the winner before a late capitulation at Colchester. Supporters were unconvinced by his signing, but he burst onto the scene at the Mem with a fine brace against Oxford United in the final pre-season friendly before the start of the season, including a stoppage-time winner from more than 40 yards. But, after being central to Barton's plans at the start of the season, Pitman has become an increasingly peripheral figure and he was left out of the squad to face Walsall on Saturday. His last league start came in the December defeat at Forest Green Rovers, with Barton preferring to go without a recognised number nine in several games. And with the signing of Ryan Loft from Scunthorpe United this month, plus Leon Clarke's return from injury, Pitman's playing chances are minimal.

Will probably go to another league 2 club or perhaps a conference club with money.

Trying to reduce the wage bill which is not a bad thing. Fair play to JB recognising that it just hasn’t gone to plan.
That’s the danger of signing players at the end of their career looking for one last pay day. Get him off the books, and go again if we have time between now and Monday. Or recall the youngster at Swindon Marines, and give him a go.
