Supporters Club launch club Caps initiative. Well done Helen and her team ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Itโs been a while in the planning, but Bristol Rovers Supporters Club are now in a position to launch their caps initiative. Essentially, it is proposed that every player to have represented Bristol Rovers in league football will be awarded a cap bearing the clubโs logo and the number he was when representing the club for the first time. For example, Jon Nolan, who made his debut when going on as a second half substitute at Newport on March 5th, became the 978th player to play league football for the club. The Supporters Club has purchased 1,000 caps and will, initially, concentrate on awarding them to players and/or their families who have played for the club since the resumption of football following the Second World War. At some point in the future we would like to trace descendants of any player who played for Bristol Rovers from 1920/21 through to the final completed season before the outbreak of War though, naturally, this is a long term project! Ahead of the grand launch of the scheme later this year, we will be presenting caps to the current squad at the training ground and we hope to do this on Thursday, 7th April. All caps are available for sponsorship by supporters and a two tier pricing system will be in operation, namely ยฃ60 for Supporters Club members and ยฃ70 for non members. All sponsors, as well as the player, will receive a commemorative certificate and a photo of the presentation which will also be posted on the Supporters Club website. Full details of how to sponsor a player can also be found on the website and itโs worth noting that there is no limit to the number of people who can sponsor the same player. This is, of course, a long term project but it is hoped that supporters will welcome the initiative and support it through the sponsorship scheme, as income raised will be used to assist the Football Club, either through donations to certain departments or for specific projects such as helping to improve facilities for disabled supporters at the Memorial Stadium. Naturally, there are some problems with the initiative, in that statisticians donโt include players who only played for the club in the Conference, nor do they include players whose only appearances have come in cup competitions or the aborted 1939/40 season. Perhaps, in future, we can come up with a way of recognising those players in a different way. It is hoped that all will agree that this is a worthwhile project and that as many supporters as possible will assist the Supporters Club in tracking down players we no longer have details for. It is also appreciated that there will be some players who have been more popular than others, particularly in recent times, but it is felt that the project will only succeed if it is an all inclusive one. Supporters who wish to sponsor any member of the current playing squad should, in the first instance, register their interest by emailing secretary@bristolroverssc.co.uk You should state which player(s) you wish to sponsor, and if a member of the Supporters Club, quote your membership number. Your application will be acknowledged, and you will be advised how to make your sponsorship payment. Please note that sponsorship details for players not in the current squad will be made available at a later date and prior to the official launch.

Great atmosphere and positive vibes everywhere pre Match in the bars/fanzone once again. Superb reception for the young Irish dance group too, brilliant from the stands/terraces.
Also amazing to see so many young faces at the Mem these days, parents with their kids, teenagers, 20 somethings. I remember a time we all feared for the future of our support with such an ageing fanbase/average age of regular Mem attendees.
And the Gas have people talking. In work this morning, the restaurant was awash with usual glory plastic prem fans muttering amongst themselves โGas going well at the moment eh?โ โRovers are properly on a run!โ Etcโฆ Even the kitchen girls were at it, oneโs granddaughter was mascot last night & proudly showed me her picture with Couttsy in the tunnel just before the teams came out.
Hell of a vibe about the club at the moment, hoping we keep this going into these final 9 games and beyond!

Iโve said it before, but the amount of youngsters watching us play now is staggering, theyโre everywhere, and thingโs like the fan zone really are adding to a good experience for our future generation of supporters. I think Tom Gorringe and his team are a big reason for this and of course Joeyโs team/style of play. The future is looking bright ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ

Great motivational thread. Love it. The emotional connection on and off the field is so obvious these days. We have had some hard, tough times but itโs clear we are moving in the right direction. The Gas are coming!

The Mem might be a bit ramshackle, but on a sunny day like yesterday it's great! You'd never get an atmosphere like that at the gate. I went into town for some bevvies by the harbourside after the game in my rovers shirt. Got far more positive heckles than negative. Is the tide turning?

The club will need a lot more young and not so young supporters if real progress is to be made. How will Rovers house all the new enthusiastic supporters in limited ramshackle ground. If Rovers attain promotion and do well next season it wil be very embarrassing not being able to have match day ticket!!

You forgot to mention the clubs interest in its back history.
The Bristol Rovers history group has been encouraged by David Bright.
The history group has supported the Hall of Fame initiative too.
A museum is a must at the Mem and particularly at the Fruit Market Ffyes Stadium.
A statue of Geoff Bradford too not James Belshaw is also overdue.
The naming rights the Harry Bamford West Stand and the Geoff Bradford East Stand.

The club are to be congratulated, because it appears there are now no limits on the amount of mascots for each game. In the past there were a maximum of about four or five but now there into double figures. All good for putting money in the coffers from the parents and the kids have a great time on the pitch before games, get interviewed and then walk out with the team. It's obvious they are welcomed very warmly and they all appear to absolutely love it. Well done Rovers.
