Anyone got any footage of the Otoole challenge on Collins ? It’s not on the Sky highlights.

I think Nicholson bundled to the ground from a throw in,is another if not stronger pen claim.

I can’t understand how that wasn’t given. He stepped across him and took the man. It’s as obvious as they come.

Definitely a penalty. As I said on the match thread, the defender goes down rubbing his leg after the contact. Interestingly on the Mansfield forum there are differences of opinion - one saying Collins changed direction to run into the defender looking for contact (can't see that), others saying it was a pen and they got lucky. It was certainly more of a penalty than the one Man City got for their 4th goal yesterday (having just seen that on Match of the Day this morning).

Perhaps the way Collins threw himself to the ground didn't help matters, as it made it look like he was trying to win a penalty rather than him being fouled. Perhaps if he'd just fallen down normally the ref wouldn't have thought he dived.

It's a penalty as simple as that.

I know you don't but honestly to say it's not a penalty is ridiculous. Yes he has made a little bit of it but that's modern football but there is clear contact that is enough to bring a player down. What disappoints me the most is the linesman was not brave enough to give the decision.

Everyone in the ground saw it was a pen, just not the clown impersonating a referee.

Even if you flipped it around and it was a Mansfield striker going over a rovers defenders challenge, you'd have no complaints if the ref gave a pen. It's a penalty, no matter what way you look at it. Especially when you look at some of the dodgy penalties given against us!?

Perhaps if he'd just fallen down normally the ref wouldn't have thought he dived. Perhaps, but if players don’t go down then penalties are not given. Refs rarely give penalties when players stay on their feet and the ball just runs away from them. I don’t know what falling down normally is but if the ref thinks he’s dived then you don’t get a pen anyway, even if it is a foul. UTG!

Sort of thing Vardy does for Leicester and its seen as 'clever' Whether he's looking for the penalty or not, under the rules - as they stand - it's a penalty. VAR would have confirmed pretty much instantly.
