FWIW
FGR will be champions long before we meet and Scunny will be long since relegated.
Both within the last 3 games of the season, both at home. Plenty to like about that.

FGR have a habit of imploding last 1/3 0f season, could yesterday be the start of there fall from grace? have a few more points in hand this time though,

Plenty to like about that. last time we got out of this League we had the lee Brown moment against Dagenham - a team that were already relegated - but gave us a scare. if Scunny is a must win and they are relegated then it could be a case of history repeating itself

I actually think that Connor Taylor is the key, when he is not playing (e.g. Oldham) we look vulnerable at the back, when he plays we look confident and solid.
I fear our fate will be decided by whether he remains injury and suspension free or not.
When others are missing we have plenty of options to cover (EG Evans) but there is no adequate cover for Connor.

We're playing the last game of the season against already relegated Scunny. We need to win for auto promotion. We are drawing in the last minute of 6 minutes added on. Belshaw scores the winner with a powerful header from outside the box. The rest is history UTG

(the right type of grass I hope) He has played many more first team games all at a higher level. He's scored more goals as well. Have faith in your own home grown players rather than a young loan kid

I agree, also the Rochdale home game Beesley didn't get a sniff until Connor went off at HT. We do seem very shaky without him in the team

Bolton we’re fortunate to get automatic with 79 points if that’s what they had as previously mentioned. I’m sure 99 times out of 100 you need 80 plus.

Another stat for you. After 30 games in 15/16 season we had 47 points but ended it with 85 points. That means we had a stronger end to the season than Bolton last year, that will probably surprise a few people!
We have had so many years of mediocrity but one thing we are good is carrying the momentum through when we do get it. When we get going we really do get going. We did it in 06/07. We did it in 14/15, we did it in 15/16 and we'll do it again this season. Bump this bastard.

We have exactly the same points as Bolton did at this stage last year. 44, Both W12 D8 L10. Their goal difference was - 2, we are on +3. Bolton then W11 D2 and L3 of their remaining games to go up with 79 points. Interestingly teams are placed fairly similar to last season. This is why I can’t understand why people think play offs is too far a reach. I mean what Bolton did last season is obviously on a par with what we did in 2007 and that is rare but I don’t see the play offs for us as it stands as being too big an ask considering the squad we have the form we’re in,,the 48 points left to play for and the fact we’ve got a game in hand or two on most of the sides around us. I just hope you are all correct!!! And that you come back on here and make me eat humble pie. Blimey, normally I’m the rose-tinter and the optimist! 😉 UTG!

Fair point GGMI. However we still have: Vale (a), Northampton (a), Tranmere (a), Newport (a), FGR (h), Exeter (h) & Salford (h) I like playing the top teams though, beat them and you’ll be up there. It’ll be a strong test on whether we’re good enough IMO Vale - on a tough run abs currently no DC. Cobblers - Form is dropping off and we beat them at the Mem. Tranmere - 3 games in hand in poor form. Should’ve beat them at the mem. Newport - Will be a toughy. Typical derby game. FGR - Expect to lose, a very impressive season in hand. Exeter - will be a Mansfield-esq fixture. Like us, they have loads of fight in the side. Salford - I think we can take confidence from how we played them away. Nothing to be scared of tbh. True - nothing to be too afraid of, but half of our remaining games are against top teams. So far of the 10 teams above us we’ve only taken more than 1 point against 2 of them - Northampton & Sutton. That’s a really poor return rate and if we’re going to even make an attempt for the play offs, we need to start beating the teams above us rather than the bottom 10.

I actually fear playing relegated teams at the end of the season, somehow they always find form - especially once they’re already down. FGR could he a good shout though. Will be interesting to see how they bounce back after losing on Saturday

Wayne Cousins turned into prime Manuel Neuer and Peter Schmicheal rolled into one for 90 mins.

Every shot we had was straight at him. Not once did the bloke have to tip one over the bar, tip one round the post or claw one out that was bound for the back of the net. 6 or 7 times, straight to the body, it couldn’t have been any different to the other 45 matches we’d played that season😄

Big difference! Perhaps edit. UTG!

FGR will be out for as many points as they can, players will be playing for contracts. Similarly Scunthorpe will still be playing for pride. Anyone who thinks teams who have nothing to play for will roll over should remember Mansfield.
