We have exactly the same points as Bolton did at this stage last year. 44, Both W12 D8 L10. Their goal difference was - 2, we are on +3.
Bolton then W11 D2 and L3 of their remaining games to go up with 79 points.
Interestingly teams are placed fairly similar to last season.

This is why I can’t understand why people think play offs is too far a reach. I mean what Bolton did last season is obviously on a par with what we did in 2007 and that is rare but I don’t see the play offs for us as it stands as being too big an ask considering the squad we have the form we’re in,,the 48 points left to play for and the fact we’ve got a game in hand or two on most of the sides around us.

We had a little blip with two draws and a defeat but have come back with two wins. We are 11 points behind 3rd place Northampton with a game in hand. More interestingly we are 12 points behind 2nd place Tranmere with three games in hand. Its a big ask but its still possible. We have to play the top four again so our results against these will determine our chances.

Weird I was buzzing last night, so looked at the remaining games and thought I would guess what points I thought we could reasonably achieve, I came up with 35 and thought forget the bus Rich we need a train!

As a side note going on last season's league table. we would now need 9 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats to make the playoffs. Doesn't sound so unrealistic does it?

Although I think we are still to play seven of the ten teams above us so as long as those 5 defeats and 2 draws don't come against those seven we have a chance!

Mansfield were on a good run as well and if they ref gave us that penalty, we might have got 3 points. We still have Nolan to come into the squad. Plus we have been missing Evans, Grant, Loft and Clarke recently for most the games.

I think we will comfortably make the playoffs.
Autos is possible but a big ask - think we’ll just fall short.
Better hope the squad bring their A-game to Wembley.
If we can get promoted I think like in 16-17 we can stage a good battle to make the following seasons playoffs. I can imagine players like Evans and Nicholson signing new contracts, and loan players like Taylor and Anderson being sent back here for further development at a new level.
I think if anything we could be in a stronger position than last time around.
Chuck in stadium news and this could be a real growth opportunity for the club.

Barton tried to freshen up the team and it backfired. We also lost our best defender before KO and Evans soon after.

I fear a little bit if we just fall short. A large core of our team could be ripped apart. At least two loan players who we would have no chance of getting back. Nicholson, Evens etc wanting to play at a higher level. The flip side, however, as you mentioned, could mean Nicholosn & Evans singing new contracts and possibility of getting the same loan players back as their parent clubs would be happy to see them tested at a higher level. Although I can easily see Stoke wanting Taylor in their own squad next season.

On this day in 2018/19 Newport were 15th and six points off the playoffs on Feb 20th - they finished 7th but then lost at Wembley.
On this day in 2017/18 Coventry were 10th and five points off the playoffs and won promotion through them.
On this day in 2016/17 Blackpool were 14th and five points off the playoffs and won promotion through them.
You don't want to peak too soon!

One game at a time for me, it’s boring & a typical old saying but all eyes on Orient & no further.

We need to get as many points on the board as possible as April's fixtures look the most difficult on paper. Tricky month for sure

However we still have: Vale (a), Northampton (a), Tranmere (a), Newport (a), FGR (h), Exeter (h) & Salford (h) I like playing the top teams though, beat them and you’ll be up there. It’ll be a strong test on whether we’re good enough IMO

Nearly all this squad are playing in a division at least below their abilities. Now they are starting to click I doubt many teams we play they will be worried about

It’ll be a strong test on whether we’re good enough IMO Vale - on a tough run abs currently no DC. Cobblers - Form is dropping off and we beat them at the Mem. Tranmere - 3 games in hand in poor form. Should’ve beat them at the mem. Newport - Will be a toughy. Typical derby game. FGR - Expect to lose, a very impressive season in hand. Exeter - will be a Mansfield-esq fixture. Like us, they have loads of fight in the side. Salford - I think we can take confidence from how we played them away. Nothing to be scared of tbh.

Exeter will be a good judge of how far we've come as beat them and anything could be possible, lose and we'll be back wondering if we can still sneak into the top 7.
Hopefully Finley can avoid picking up his 10th yellow on Tuesday, if he's not rested, and so play on Saturday.
You do have to wonder where we might now be in the table if we signed a mobile CF rather the immobile Pitman.

Momentum, we got it. Genuinely excited to see what we can do with Evans back in team. I think beating Exeter on Saturday will set up up beautifully for the long run in. Pray for no more injuries, but when all are fit, we have a real selection headache

Forest Green should already be promoted by the time we play them. That could help us. Salford were very poor when we played them away. Port Vale and Newport both away I think will be our hardest games. Northampton & Tranmere wont be easy, but on their current form we have an excellent chance of picking up some points. Exeter are on form but we are at home. Like you said, it'll be similar to the Mansfield game.
