Are we still trying to make it into the playoffs or can we start to talk about the big ticket items yet? Autos should be our primary aim with eyes on the championship. Think big, achieve big things. Getting out of this division by the autos has to be the sole aim, getting the championship would be just a bonus. Although I sense come May the top 3, even the top 7, will be still so close that the championship might not be decided until the last couple of games.

Many . Anssi is a very good keeper but if he had been our number 1 this season I reckon we’d be about 8th a point or two off play offs. Belshaw this season has performed above anybody I’ve seen since Nigel Martyn. If Belshaw had played at Oldham we might well be second tonight! Jaakola seems a shadow of the goalie he was under GC. True but It’s hard when you’ve been out for ages then get in because of an injury. I’ve played in goal all my life decent standard , broke my wrist in November been back the last 4 weeks only just feeling back to my old self last game , I didn’t do a lot wrong first three weeks back but it takes time to get in to it again and play to your full standard again. Same for an outfield player but there’s 10 of them and only 1 goalkeeper we are very much under the spotlight good and bad. Anssi came in for Belly for 2-3 games can’t remember exactly how many but as number 2s go we’ve probably got the best in the bottom two divisions. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he left at the end of the season and went to a league 1 side as their number 1 keeper. Also , Belly is class.

Great to see the celebration and togetherness of the squad when HA scored. Billy Elliott is really bought into this team and showing with the celebration, let’s hope we can get up and some of these lads can stay with us next season.

Just back. We were lucky to win, but it was a very committed performance. Before the game, I like others was worried about set-pieces and in the first half, we were vulnerable - the towering header by the centre-half that hit the angle beteween bar and post deserved a goal. They pressed very strongly and we weren't able to work the ball through midfield. Coutts anf Finley were anonymous, Billy largely ineffective and, in the first half especially, Evans had one of his poorer games. Taylor anf Connelly were good against the long ball, but less good at marking at the set-pieces. To me Hoole had his poorest game for a while, but his winger was their danger player.Belshaw was a gain outstanding. We played better in the second half and they created little, if anything. Even then though, there was a shot that almost broke the crossbar. All in all the positives were the result, the team-spirit and the committment all the players showed. Onwards and upwards.

Last ELEVEN Bristol Rovers League fixtures WON 8 DREW 2 LOST 1 Goals conceded 3 Just about Satisfactory Just to stretch those figures over a longer period. Since the Port Vale home defeat played 18 won 12 drawn 4 lost 2 goals scored 30 goals conceded 11 so 40 pts from those 18 games compared to just 23 pts from the first 20 games.Quite remarkable. 10 clean sheets in the last 18 as well, superb effort. Best result of the season for me today. The gas are still coming!

My Newcastle mate tells me that Howe is being asked lots of questions about Elliott,Howes view is he will be in the Prem squad the season after next,Howe is very pleased with the way Elliott has been managed and the key is he may stay if we get promoted, plus Joey has a great relationship with the Newcastle guys and Howe with Bond

Nice little drive up there, went past Rugby on the way back, which coincidently was what Northampton were trying to play today.

Had my ticket but sadly missed the game today. Great win and finally a weeks break for this team. We’ve won some ugly games recently which is exactly what we’ve needed to do.
We’ve played Tuesday/Saturday for something like 6 weeks whilst carrying injuries so to win again today is pretty impressive.
I think FGR & Exeter will have the top 2 spots but 3rd is up for grabs amongst all teams. Biggest threat has to be Vale IMO

What a great day out; scored early doors, and then sat in and defended really well as a solid unit. Joey has certainly built up a superb squad. Nice to see the majority of the Gas support celebrating with Joey and the players at the end of the match. Onwards and upwards to Carlisle next week. Utg

And yet as of now of the 3 replies to player ratings neither Coutts or Finley score less than 8! just goes to show how we all see things differently! There is no doubt lady luck seems to be with us at the moment, unlike early season and last year, long may she continue to favour us, as good as we are at the moment we will still need fortune to smile on us to achieve our goal !

Coutts was class today imo. Evans had a quiet game and they doubled up on Billy Elliot making it hard for him to produce much going forward, Harry Anderson worked his socks off.

Biggest threat has to be Vale IMO Monday night's game could be season defining for FGR, as if they win that then they'll open up a big points gap again, fail to win and the chasing pack will be getting ever closer. Colchester looked a difficult team to beat on Tuesday night. PV look the danger side now, as their GD is worth an extra point.
