Port vale away. Wonder if our man will put up coach travel and pack out the away end. Nearly 5k fans would make it a home game for us. agree totally mate! We could easily sell their end out! Nice thought but I wouldn't mind betting that they'd restrict us to 1500 or something and say it's a recommendation from the Staffordshire Constabulary or something, just so we don't outnumber the home support.

Lots of "Six Pointers" among the remaining fixtures with both Exeter & Port Vale having to play 5 FGR = 4 Exeter = 5 Northampton = 2 Gas = 3 Tranmere = 2 Newport = 3 Swindle = 2 Port V = 5 Sutton = 3 Mansfield = 3 Which mathematical genius is going to work out how many points we’re going to need to guarantee automatic promotion? My stab in the dark is 18 points Russgas? I Voted For Kodos?

Imagine beating Forest Green at a sell out Mem to knock them off top spot. I might cry 😂 who's FGR? Tin pot club which we should never fear! Yes they are above us but come on.... they're dog sh** and always bottle it in the final quarter of the season. I didn't mean because they are FGR or a rival, just that they've been clear at the top most of the season and we've been mid table!

As I’ve put on other threads using the form guide is a good indicator as to how we are doing and this week there is one big mover.
We stay top of the form table but since last Saturday Port Vale with 2 straight wins have bounced up the form table.
The calculations over the next 6 games, taking us to game 44 and it looks like this. I’ve also included the games in hand and the total points assuming that each team wins all their games in
1. Gas 78 2. Newport 75 3. Exeter 75 (2 games in hand) (81) 4. Port Vale 73 (2 games in hand) (79) 5. FGR 71 (2 games in hand) (77) 6. Tranmere 71 7. Swindon 70 8. Mansfield 68 (4 games in hand) (80)
What this tells us that we our playing it into our own hands with great consistency. All of the top 7 bar us are falling away.
It’s putting pressure on the teams below us with games in hand to win them but the good news about that is they have to play each other which means dropping points for one of them strengthening our position.
At the moment we are going into the final 3 fixtures in a net 4th place.
The teams picking up total form this week are Carlisle, Salford, PV and Walsall and we have to play 3 of those 4. It’s not over for us yet either.
Squeaky bum time for every side.

When we draw a game next let’s not forget when we drew with Stevenage 0-0 under DC and we all thought it was the end for our promo push.

Well done yatton, that will help us follow the next few weeks. Mansfield are going to find it hard to play all those games and keep the squad fit. It’s been amazing and a credit to our training regime as players have kept fit and JBs been able to choose more or less the same team over 7/8 weeks and at a time of real pressure has managed to add some discipline and cut out the red cards. Form can change but I think we’re in as good a place as any side after today. I keep saying it but one game at a time. Now we move on to Carlisle. I said earlier 4 points from these two away games would be great. We’ve got 3 today, 1 at Carlisle would be good but we should be aiming for 3. I hope we are and I’m sure we are aiming for automatic promotion now. COYB! UTG! I am sure Joey is aiming at the automatics but knows full well, if we win all our games, we will be close to being champions. Just need a few to crack under pressure. We are the form team. Could we be Champions? Ain’t no mountain high enough to keep me from you.

A completely different angle (maybe less accurate) but I've calculated the points against those teams in the reverse fixtures and for us we would have a tally of 12 points in last 8 games which would put us on a total of 75 points. Taking current form into account you would like to think that is closer to a worst case scenario. Especially as we should have come away with more from the Salford, Tranmere and Port Vale games. If anyone has got time to do the other teams... 😉

No-one could have predicted Newport losing at home to hartlepool, let silly season commence!

Yes they are above us but come on.... they're dog sh** and always bottle it in the final quarter of the season. I know what you mean. I often think the same about small town teams with ridiculously low attendances like FGR, Salford, Accrington, but we invariably come unstuck against those sort of sides. No we shouldn’t fear them, but we still need to respect them.

No-one could have predicted Newport losing at home to hartlepool, let silly season commence! That is why the form guide gives a slightly more accurate representation because it’s not weighted to who anyone plays, rather over a batch of games and the total points collected within those fixtures. What is telling is that I’ve been doing this over the last 4 weeks and there have been movers and shakers but the most consistent are us, Exeter and Newport so far. Hard to judge Mansfield because of the GIH they have but looking at the form they are in going into those fixtures is no gimme for them. The fact we keep winning all our available fixtures puts even greater pressure on them to perform. What a run in this is.

Carlisle have won 5 of their last 6 that won’t be easy. But I don’t fear anyone in this division and think players no how to scrape draws and one nils from scrappy games now.

A 2 hour(ish) trip from Bristol, 4 games to go at that point, potentially a huge game. And to top it off, it’s on Easter Monday with reports that this could be the hottest Easter ever in the U.K. With an away end that holds 5000, has there ever been a better occasion for a Gas invasion? UTG!

Feck me I didn't realise they were doing that well! Like you say though no need to fear anyone. They've lost recently to Swindon, Salford and PV, apart from beating Northampton they seem to struggle against the top 10 sides, although Paul Simpson has done a brilliant job since being appointed given they were in bottom 2 or 3 when he took over. Assuming EA is still joining up with the U21's then he'll be a big loss, I assume JB will either push Finley into his role and bring in Whelan, or just a straight swap with Thomas as I doubt Nicholson will recover in time.

I know that some fixtures seem to carry more weight than others which is fair enough but from now on every single game has 3 points at stake , every one is winnable for all those involved and every one is a potential banana skin, if every game went to form you could publish the final table now and we could all relax. Thing is every game will not go to form and every team will suffer upsets ,dare i say it even Rovers, we just have to make sure that if and when the upset comes we go out and put another great run together like we have done post Oldham and Newport, all i will say is that the whole squad from JB to fringe squad players seem very focused , very grounded and utterly determined to finish the job and ensure there efforts bear fruit, come on Rovers!
