Why now?

If this is true, then why would we close the family stand seating on top of that?
Surely we don’t need the capacity that much that we remove all cheap options for seating? Especially when it sounds like we’ll gain more capacity from the South stand thing.
It would make sense if we were closing the South stand to offer South stand ST holders the chance to relocate to the family stand seating area or SW stand at the same or lower prices as currently.
We sell out of seats far more often than we sell out the home end of the ground and from the sounds of it, it would be impossible to get a POTD seat ticket next season, which for Elderly or immobile gas supporters without season tickets would be a real shame.

I feel like the more sensible fix to increase capacity is to remove the embarrassment that is the Family stand, free up more terraced capacity in the East terrace and relocate all the supporters there to the SW stand or another area of the ground of their choice.

What's the net gain in capacity? The South Stand is 1,100 (isn't it?) So what we are effectively doing is freeing up the segregation areas in return for losing home seating.
Unless they are doing something elsewhere I can't see the benefits of gaining a few hundred spaces or the disruption and of which we are reliant on the away fans filling anyway.
We're likely to increase capacity but lose actual ticket sales.

It’s crap for supporters who are losing their seat they’ve had for years but unfortunately this is a problem that has been brewing for 25 years.
Our inability to secure a new stadium was always going to end in this situation and I’m afraid it’s unlikely that everyone is going to be happy.
All we’ve heard so far is from some affected parties on the various different forums and groups and it’s unlikely to be the full story.
I’m sure there’s a reason why we had to do this, or reasoning behind why we’re choosing to do it.
Who knows, TG could have an ace up his sleeve that will result in better seated options for both families and less able supporters.

For all the club has made progress on the commercial front and the general improvement in the clubs professionalism the treatment of our stadium is a disgrace. Never has “re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic” been more appropriate.

My thoughts on a few points
- Guessing we have a few hundred season ticket holders in the South stand. Phoning and telling them one by one is the way I would like to be treated, but will mean some hear first and post on here, making others feel that they shoudn't have learnt on this forum first. Advising on the website, social media or by letter would give less opportunity for discussion. Not sure how BRFC could win on this front - Yes we are to an extent customers, but after the £'s Wael has put in and the free travel he has funded I frankly feel like a well treated customer - Fully agree that we need to ensure we take care of our less mobile and disabled supporters. It's what a "family club" do

Yes leave it to Tom Baldrick Gorringe 👍 Baldrick's a sh1dhead. Each series had Baldrick getting even more stupid, only natural that within a generation or so he'd be one 😉

Not defending the club just trying to offer a different perspective. It could be that we’re not quite there for being able to announce a relatively substantial change to the stadium but we’re at the time that season ticket renewals come out. It could be they wanted to let people know before those renewals come out and those who sit in the south tent find out from a renewal comm rather than the club letting affected supporters know.

Has it been 100 percent confirmed the family stand is going as well? Because to me what seems to make a bit more sense is the family stand is staying and the loss of terrace capacity on the centenary side where it is will just be recovered by allowing our fans in what is now the away terrace making the south stand the full away stand?
Could be way off the mark but I haven’t personally seen anywhere the family stand is definitely going.
If we stay in league 2 some of the away followings will struggle to fill three blocks of seats in the south stand. Would definitely still keep a few blocks for home fans.

Maybe they are going to bolt some seats onto the terraces of the old Family area on the West side?

Feels like banking on promotion and better away followings I guess depending on opposition they can always open part of the South Stand if we were playing someone like Harrogate or Barrow who would only bring 150 or whatever
