Surprised that I cannot find any reference to this on the forum or BRFC?

I received a phone call from a "Chloe" on Saturday telling me exactly that. I cannot renew my season ticket for the south stand as it is being given over to away fans only...REALLY !!! Also, they dont know where to seat me, as I require a seat for medical reasons.. Why is this being done, so, thanks for supporting us all these years from the south stand, but tough luck, off you go and find somewhere else.. The lady also said the whole of the south stand has been given over to Forest Green supporters as well... I am really amazed and upset that this football club will be putting away fans before their own supporters, SO WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS THIS ? Seriously considering keeping hold of my money, and being a Radio Bristol armchair fan next season!!!

Noticed on the other forum they are saying the family stand is going and the east terrace is going back to standing again

Bit sh**.
But a product of having a bit of a sh** stadium.
I’m sure that this will lead to changes which are for the better of the club on a wider basis, even if this does upset some supporters.

I have not had a phone call about this. We've been season ticket holders for many years in this stand and there are 3 of us sitting together. I must say I am not over impressed the first I hear about it is on here. I chose that stand when my children were small (now grown up) and made sure we had a seat without a pillar obstructing the view in the front row. Not everyone can stand all the match or climb a load of steps.

Can only hope at the very least they have taken into account 2 things. 1) Are there enough seats elsewhere to cater for ST holders who prefer a seat. 2) Are there enough easy access areas for those that need it. My mobility is slowly getting worse so I've been keeping an eye out. There is currently an easy access 'bring your own chair' area in the East terrace. Apparently there is a 2nd towards the current away end. Appreciate this will not be ideal for everyone but with the mem and capacity limitations it's pretty much the only reasonable solution.

That has happened in the past, Leeds, Southampton and Sheff utd spring to mind. The South stand ST holders being seated in other areas and the away terrace for home supporters. As regards for next season, seems very strange to suddenly lose a large number of seats. No doubt the reasons why and whats happening will be announced soon.

I’m sure an ST at no extra cost in the East Stand will cushion the blow. Something the club will surely offer up to all of those who have been South Stand loyal for so long.
In terms of Away fans only, I’m all for it. Keep them in their own ‘end’ & maximise terrace space for the Gasheads.

Not trying to defend the club, but recently TG said they were looking at ways to increase the capacity of the Mem which has been drastically reduced because of health & safety regulations. By moving away fans to the south stand means the large sterile area on the east terrace can be used, again not defending the decision, but again shows if we want to progress the Mem is not fit for purpose.

This would produce an extremely limited number of seats available for the casual supporter. Not sure those fans would want to stand. I don't agree with reducing the number of seats. We definitely need to increase the capacity of the stadium, especially for home fans. Perhaps this is the only way.
A number of positive decisions for the club have been made this season, so I'm sure a lot of thought has gone into this and will be good for the club as a whole. Looking forward to the official announcement about this, will be interesting to hear what the plan is.

Maybe a roof in the away end if it's now for home fans next season?

Maybe a roof in the away end if it's now for home fans next season? I would imagine that would block the view from the East Stand, which is the reason that the North Terrace roof stops at the north east corner. I agree the whole terrace needs a roof!

Some of the ST holders I've seen in the South Stand would have no chance of being able to access a seat in the East Stand, due to mobility issues. There are people in the front row who arrive in a wheelchair, and it takes two people to help them transfer to their seat. I really hope that the club have some sort of plan in place to accommodate those fans in a suitable area of the ground, and that it's not a case of displacing disabled fans for the sake of ££££.

We are so far behind in terms of Disabled facilities. Can't see much of any significance happening with the awful set up we have ,but have taken a group of Disabled people to various grounds over the years and when you see their lifts, etc you realise just how much we need to come into modern times. Not having a go at the club as we are so limited with the Mem with how much we can do but getting one of the disabled guys I used to look after into his seat was not easy.

As you say, in these examples then Gasheads affected in this way need to be made the absolute priority when renewals come around.
