I think it’ll be 1-1 there will be a melt down by many saying that’s autos out of our reach now. Then we’ll win Saturday and it’ll be Automatic promotion is on !! Lots of football to be played yet. Bump Smartass!!! 😉 As a result it’s an ok one but when so many others have won it doesn’t feel quite so good. But there’s a lot of football to play and lots of twists and turns to come. I’ve always said it’s down to what we do, not others. And in our last two away games we’ve outplayed Carlisle and today Tranmere but only got 1 point and that’s made the automatic places more difficult. But we’re still in with a good chance. Looking at the table as it is we’d play Northampton in the play off semi final. I’d be happy with that, we’re far better than them and have shown it in both matches. Then in the final anything can happen, not about the performance then, just the result. Big weekend coming up. If we play well and can get a win and then another one it all changes, again. COYB! UTG!

One things for certain,if we don't beat Salford then we can kiss the top three goodbye, all to play for in my book, but to me were not quite good enough. Really good point. Because we don’t have that out and out mobile No.9 to match all the other mobility and the way we play we just lack that balance to score the goals our play deserves. I like Collins but he’s not a No. 9. UTG!

Bring on Neville’s mob! Mem will be rocking off that must win game part 1!
Take 3 points there, hope one or two others go our way & it’ll set up Vale (a) perfectly

With things as tight as they are a good point becomes an ok ish one, with the amount of possession and creativity in the squad we should be getting more 'tap' in kind of goals , we have scored many spectacular goals this season but IMHO not enough in the six yard box. As others have said we lack that instinctive striker to take up poacher positions as i am pretty sure our creative players would pick them out if we had one, will it cost us ,hope not ! Pitman was that type of player. You mean the one who can't even now get into the struggling Eastleigh side? I thought Saunders was a "fox in the box" striker?

The one thing that Joey has'nt got us yet -- Is a prolific number 9. Its going to cost but will be totally beneficial in the end. This will be the final solution to this great squad.

I agree with the lack of striker this season and we obviously lack the final product at times going forward but Collins has been great this season up on his own and I think Leon Clarke has been another Jermaine Easter type signing for us. Great experience and still full of ability at this level but will never be fit! AS FOR LOFT??? IM CONFUSED WITH THIS SIGNING 😕

I agree but they’re difficult to find and it’s often down to luck not necessarily cost. Look at Taylor when we signed him, fourth choice as FGreen free transfer. On Paper Pitman had a great record and still probably had the legs left to be that striker for us at this level but was so immobile that we were crap with him in the side even though he did still chip in with a few before he left. Problem was that he was scoring in games we were losing 3-1 and we were losing games like that because he didn’t suit the style of play we were playing. If he was still our striker now I reckon he’d have about 10-15 goals but we would be mid table and at least 6 points off of the play offs maybe worse. Loft scored a few for Scunthorpe before we signed him and again on paper most of us thought that he would probably be a decent signing if he could get 6 goals in half a season playing for the bottom side then perhaps more than 6 goals in the second half of the season for a team just hitting form wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility? But no he’s generally looked very poor, his effort is there he almost looks too keen trying too hard and it’s not working, perhaps playing in front of 8-9000 has been a factor I don’t know but when he signed he could have been another lambert , Hayles etc you just don’t know until you sign them , try them. It’s unfortunate because that poacher is the missing part of what is otherwise a very good squad for this level. I still think we’ll make the play offs possibly even top 3 without that poacher anyway , we play our best football and create the most with Collins as a number 9 even though he isn’t a natural number 9. He went on a run over about 9 games where he was averaging around a goal a game it’s dried up lately but if he can start getting in the score sheet again occasionally then there are other goalscorers in the squad. We don’t concede many which always gives you a chance. I can’t remember the last time we scored at least 1 goal and lost but I reckon it’s been a while and certainly hasn’t happened much this year. Edit : just looked it up and Oldham 1-2 is the only time we have scored this year and lost , and we had the problem with Taylor’s heart condition in the warm up that seemed to really effect the players early on in that game. 10 clean sheets out of 20 this year too. That’s some record. Like I’ve said we are by no means out of the promotion race.

I’m seeing similarities in the Fleetwood team that Joey built, especially thinking back to their play off games v Wycombe. Play all the football but very suspect in the rare occasions the opponents counter.

Not being clinical enough could well cost Rovers a playoff place. Having so much possession in games and creating very little clear cut chances is worrying. Can't guarantee defence will hold out indefinitely! Oh, to have a decent striker. If Rovers do manage to attain promotion the team will have to be a lot more potent in third tier. Hoping this will be last season in Division2. UTG.

Another really good performance from the team yesterday, I agree we are missing that Taylor like striker! But I genuinely believe, we will put 3 past someone soon. Had we scored early yesterday, it would of been convincing. Tranmere never looked to take the game to us. Again our supporters were superb, literally didn’t stop encouraging all game. On to Friday, which is set up, to be some game. UTG

What was with the players throwing the shirts to the crowd at the end? Joey asked his team to go and reward the travelling Gasheads for their incredible support at the final whistle, they did as asked and some threw their shirts to youngsters 👍

I knew it would be tense, it’s that time of year, we’re in a promotion race and it’s so close for the places near the top.
I thought we played some lovely stuff, not quite achieving that final solution to kill teams off yet, but the football is so easy on the eye, we are good to watch and the plaudits are coming in from other teams reports. I thought their captain was the key, horrible nasty bloke but gosh he organised and gave us no quarter (for want of a better word). Players like him and a few others are typical of the top sides in this division, they wear you down and give you knocks all day pushing you out of your comfort zone.
But I think the lads are competing hard against those sides and still delivering the best football all told. I still think we will get stronger towards the season end with Anderton, Grant etc to return. I think we need to remember we are still scoring (8 in 6) and we will be working hard at The Quarters to improve.
Ultimately we have a team to be very proud of, we are being entertained with some of the best football we have seen and it’s just great following, watching and supporting our club again 💙
Enjoy your Sunday whatever you’re doing.

Stronger than who though assuming FGR are promoted, Exeter, PV and Mansfield all seem strong and Salford are on a decent run, we never seem to play well v Newport, so that just leaves struggling Northampton, who play rugby anyway, as though Sutton if they make the play offs. Having got this far it'll be disappointing if we don't at least make it to Wembley, assuming we still make it to the play offs, given we've still got to play Salford, PV and FGR.
