It makes you think he at least must be up for coming back (as you'd assume we've maybe checked with him before putting the request in maybe)

If we somehow got him do you think it would increase season tickets holders? He’s just one part of why anyone would want to buy a season ticket but I can’t see anyone thinking if he’s not here I’m not renewing. He’s been class for us , one of our best but I wouldn’t say he’s been head and shoulders above the rest. Not saying he hasn’t been brilliant but it’s been a team effort and the whole squad has stepped up brilliantly since Christmas. Agree ,he has been excellent. The overal impact of Connor Taylor though has been greater.

What is more important that we appear to be trying to do business at the earliest possible chance.
Got to be impressed that less than forty-eight hours after promotion we are looking to get next seasons squad sorted.

I’d be amazed if we got him for another season but now I believe in miracles.

As Newcastle are now going to be mega spenders and signing full international players, like Pogba. I can't see him getting a look in at his parent club. Like so many homegrown players, they are loaned out and eventually moved on.
He will eventually end up at Burnley or Southampton.

Would love Elliot back here, even its until December with possibility of him then staying further.
Connelly and Taylor would also be awesome.

I reckon we have a chance. It would be interesting to know how the player feels about his short term future. Guess we'll find out soon enough with either a farewell thanks or a look forward to lg1 statement from him.

I would be surprised though if they don't want to have him during pre season to take a closer look at him. It may well be that they decide another loan is the best option but I cant see them making that decision until just before the season starts, or even later. I imagine Stoke will do the same with Taylor.

I’ve got every faith in Barton bringing in an adequate replacement if we can’t get Elliot back to the Mem. Joey’s shown he is very good in the transfer market.

Not only that but we've demonstrated to all clubs that sending a player on loan to Bristol Rovers FC is an exceptional move in terms of progressing your players ability and knowledge of the game. We literally could not have done ourselves any more favours in that regard this season - the number of success stories are nothing short of amazing.

All clubs will know the gametime that Taylor, Connolly and Anderson have had and how well they have developed. Joey will have no problem in bringing in similar quality, if not better now we're higher up the pyramid.

From today's news, seems Newcastle are interested in Coutinho as well currently on loan at Villa, if so that would give him even less chance of breaking into the squad next season.

But still, we used to only loan players as cover. This season we have made full use of the loan system and I can see Barton going that way again next season for 3/4 players who will be in and around the first team.

At what point should we just give up on trying to argue we’re not ‘Bristol’… NEVER! In the meantime just be sure to always call both Manchester clubs ‘Manchester’. Make sure they get exactly the same respect as we do.

Like so many homegrown players, they are loaned out and eventually moved on. He will eventually end up at Burnley or Southampton. Newcastle fan here, we're not signing Pogba. The January window proved the new owners are taking a more sensible, pragmatic approach. Hence Average PL players like Big Dan Burn and Targett, instead of chasing Robinho-types. Pogba hasn't worked well at Man Utd, and I can't imagine he'd be more motivated at St James'. The talk up here is that a loan is the preference, and while, yes a Championship move is potentially good for him, it's more important that he gets regular game time. For me the best route would be a half season with you, then assess how he's progressing. If League 1 isn't providing enough of a challenging environment try and find a Championship loan for the second half of the season. If he's playing well but the second tier seems too big a step up, let him stay. Glad to see the young lad has done well, we've a terrible history of loan deals so when one works out as well as this, it's really refreshing.

Eddie H will want to see him in and around his current squad before any decisions made. UTG!
