Sadly the idiotic few (across all leagues) ruin it for the rest that want to go onto the pitch and celebrate with the team. Not goad opposition fans or opposition players, just jubilation that YOUR team have achieved success. Sad day for the football fans

If your team have just won the league/been promoted/reached Wembley/knocked a massive team out the cup against all odds and your first instinct is to goad and taunt opposition supporters, you shouldn’t be within 100miles of the stadium let alone hold a match ticket.

I went on the pitch after the final game, not in the initial rush (too old for that), players were still on the pitch - looked like they were enjoying it.

Exactly and in theory this new statement doesnt actually change anything. The rules are still the same rules they have been for years If you go on the pitch, you risk being banned like you always have But the rules have never, ever, been enforced previously after a big cup win etc, even back to the 60's when England won the world up "they think it's all over..." fans were invading the pitch without any penalties being imposed. Posters now making out it's a serious crime were probably on the pitch themselves after the Scunthorpe game. It’s not about after the game though as I understand it, it’s about it happening during the game or havbe i got that wrong ?

Isn't it a shame the most iconic English football commentator comment, that no matter what age you are will make you feel proud to be England fan, has been reduced to a criminal act...?
"There's some people on the pitch, they think it's all over......it is now!"
It is now, indeed over for you sonny ....bread and water at her majesty's pleasure, with a trip to Horfield's finest red brick institution..

The Sheff Utd headbutting incident happened after the games, as did the majority of the pyro incidents, I'm sensing that all pitch invasions are now banned and in future they'll be a massive steward (and police?) presence at the end of games to try and stop any fans getting on to the pitch. They think it's all over, it is now for any end of game pitch invasions/celebrations.

The trouble is most of the incidents last season were during post match pitch invasions.
Ugly scenes at portvale , Everton , forest , Man City to name a few
The idiots that assaulted / caused damage have ruined it for everyone as I think promotion pitch invasions would have still been in the grey area and too hard box and been left to happen.
Now they will be included in all invasions.

Shame Avon and Somerset did not enforce this at the last derby match at Trashton. That night was a definite p*** take.
Never forget that knob in the yellow jumper who came on more often than the ref and was ushered back to his seat like a small child (oooohhhh see what I did there ?)
Does help the FLO and Ground commander both being stinking sh**heads I suppose.
At least it will now be automatic and not down to opinion.
