I wish I could say I remember exactly which match but it would have been December 1967, finally got dad to take me to a game as a birthday present - I was 9. Remember being so excited and loved every minute of being with my dad and his older brother my uncle John. Lasted until dad passed away in 2017. R.I.P both. According to 11v11.com, Rovers played 3 home league games in December 67: - Dec 2nd - Shrewsbury Town won 4-1
- Dec 16th - Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic (never knew they were called that?!) won 2-0
- Dec 26th - Reading Won 1-0
Hope that helps narrow it down, either way you started with a win :-)

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum, hope i'm doing it right?? My first game was a 2-2 draw vs Aldershot sept 10th 1988 at Twerton Park. I had been persuaded to come and watch rovers by my workmates (thankfully, there were more gas than the other mob!!). I'd been told that Gary Penrice was the main man so was a bit disappointed when he limped off early in the first half, then we went 2-0 down before halftime. Luckily it was Big Dev to the rescue in the second half getting both goals - and that was it...hooked forever!!! So similar to mine. October 1987 v Chester. Went 2-0 down….. but Big Dev to the rescue in the second half getting both goals! Never forget that first Twerton roar

I was looking forward to seeing Rodney Marsh, but he didn’t t play. The Biggs, Jarman, Taylor, Mabbutt era. Sat on the fence by South Stand running track with others where the greyhound lights were folded down. UTG!

Might be opening myself up here but here goes. Came to Bristol in '88 for Uni and, like the callow, thoughtless loser I was then, got persuaded along to Trashton to watch the Sheeds. Dabbled with them for 4 years, I'm not proud to say. Work and romance were paramount in the early-mid 1990s (now wife is most football-hating human I have ever met- . Ex colleague and Gashead around 1998 suggested coming along to the Gas. Loved the community feel, atmosphere and welcome down there and been going ever since. First proper season was Cureton and Roberts and that horrible last game at Cardiff and being chased through some park by about 50 15 year old Cardiff fans- ha.

I don’t feel ashamed to say i have watched the 82 and especially when they were in the top tier. I have many mates of the red persuasion so , if i have nothing better to do, i still go but it’s much more social than football. I am too old for the hate. Bristol has been awful in it’s absence of a top tier football team , especially given the size of our city

Yes, have some very good friends of the red persuasion and i am too old to let football make me dislike them. I’d say i go to maybe 2-3 matches, v the best teams. My father used to take us all to both teams home games, you could afford to do that in those days.
