Evening all, was reading an article on about weather at Away grounds you should sit in your allocated seat, and how many get funny about it. Me personally I never really liked took much notice as Id always arrive early anyway and sit in my seat however I have recently thought that you should be able to sit where you want, as for most away games you can't pick your seat so if your an old boy who can't stand up for 90 mins surely they shouldn't have to stand up, and alternatively sit at the front.

If people have gone to the bother of getting seats together so they can sit with family, friends or need carers with them that should be respected by the "I'll sit where I like" brigade.

What about your seat when we get to Wembley? What about on a train where you may end up sitting in a seat already reserved, and may be a less abled prrsons'. Airplane, where sitting in the wrong seat could see you offloaded if a fuss was made.

I do not understand why people find it so hard to say in an allocated seat at a football stadium.

Can’t really answer it in a yes or no answer. But I find my seat and stand there until the game is nearing kick off. Then I look about see where everyone’s stood up and where the best atmosphere is and head there. I wouldn’t stay at my seat stood up blocking other peoples views. That would be rude, but there’s always an area where it’s more like a free for all terracing. Never sat down at a football match in my life.

No I wouldn't mate, however you can choose where you sit then, for example at portsmouth tomorrow we got given a seat and couldn't select it, where as for a cinema or plane obviously you can choose one. Respect your opinion👍🏻

I’ve never sat in my allocated seat on an away day Depends on where we go usually for me, since I am with an old boy who can't stand up for the whole game, considering im the furthest row back & quite central tomorrow I know full well he won't last the whole game stood up (that's obviously what happens at the back). So sort of unsure what to do as it's a sell out.

I’d imagine there will be plenty of people like myself that have left their seat to find the area where there’s lots of people standing / singing / chanting and he could sit there. I guess it is different to the cinema or theatre as others have said. But it’s football , it should be different. You don’t sing/ chant / shout generally at the cinema or theatre , the atmosphere isn’t loud in the crowd, you don’t jump up and down punching the clouds during a great moment. And I’m glad of that . It’s what makes Football unique and special.

I used to try to get in “my” seat.
Then someone explained we don’t do that at Rovers.
I was happy enough with the new system.
You’re always going to get bean counters who will freak out at this idea.

If people have gone to the bother of getting seats together so they can sit with family, friends or need carers with them that should be respected by the "I'll sit where I like" brigade. I generally agree with that.👍 But it can depend on the crowd and place. I used to be with sons and if there was 3 of us I’d want us altogether obviously so whilst I never had to ask others could they move I would have done if they were in “our” seats. Nowadays it’s usually only me and I can think of a couple of situations where someone was in “my” place so I just stood or sat somewhere else where I could get a good view. No problems and on one occasion I was sat in a place where a group wanted to be together so I moved a place to the left. No problem. So yes, I go to the allocated seat but have no worries about not getting it or having to move because that’s the traditional way it is at football. I get the comparison with theatre, cinema etc. but it’s football and it is different and 90% of people know that and on most occasions there’s no problem. The problem of jobsworth stewards telling me off about centimetres of hatched yellow lines esp when they can’t control the people rolling up at 2.59 is a different matter!! 👎 UTG!

I go to nearly all away games. My overwhelming opinion is sit where you want/can
At Crawley there were plenty of free seats so I sat where I wanted, no idea if my allocated seat was sat in by someone or not, I didn't care.
At Barnsley the instruction from the Stewards was sit anywhere and of course there were plenty of seats available.
I think it is only an issue when we sell out an area but in those circumstances if you want your seat I am sure if you are in the 30-40mins before kick off your seat or those near it will be free and if you are a group or have a carer there will not be an problem
No point trying to go in as a group just before kick off and expecting to sit together.
I have never asked anyone to move from my allocated seat and never would.
Tomorrow I will find a seat and stand in that spot (not much sitting at Pompey) it won't be the allocated seat for certain.
Also possession is 9/10 of the law

I also agree with the first Finns post for the most part, if I put my self in that situation Id want to be with a group if I bought my tickets that way I suppose. I usually sit wherever and nobody has ever said to me to move however with tomorrow being a near sell out im concerned someone will especially as im with younger lads it's just going to be typical for someone on the one day i don't want to move i will move - totally respect that though. Appreciate everyone's thoughts on this

I always head to an allocated seat - guess it is my Premier League mentality through many years of awaydays with Tottenham. I prefer to sit nowadays anyway but will stand if necessary. My only issue with people not doing so is in sell-out situations (like tomorrow is effectively) when it can cause issues, especially for late-comers looking for gaps.

My concern is shared about the sell out situation, I remember Leyton orient we sold 90% of it out and we could sit wherever so hopefully it's a simailr situation
