BMW were reported as saying they don't sponsor losers. You can't blame them either. Why would they want their distinct blue and white quarters overshadowed by a huge black and yellow pantomime figure of a camp naval officer who looks more like a town crier than a pirate? Do we play in blue and white or black and two shades of yellow? What is our true identity, the Pirates, the Black Arabs or the Town Criers? Who the f**k are we? The Wannabes, that's who. If we are going to stick with the pirates then it needs to be the skull and crossbones because it symbolises the up-and-at-them fighting spirit of our beautiful game without going overboard (pun intended).

I do want to change the clubs badge. I think it’s run it’s course, looks very dated and I also understand the marketing restrictions it poses.
Like it or not, the branding has to take a huge consideration and will influence the type of crest we will have.
Look at City, they had a coat of arms for years, quite a good idea actually, but the above mattered.
So creating something simple, memorable and effective which pays homage to our history is a difficult task.
That said, what they have come up with so far is nothing short of terrible.

Agree mate - And I like the Pirate skull and crossbones idea as well - makes us look tuff

Not bad, but I think you should move the 'THE' to the left hand quarter and the 1883 to the right. It will read better and look more balanced.

They’ll come running back once Joey has got us to the prem.

Transported back several decades reading that, Citizen Smith, power to the people.

I mean, they clearly want(ed) to change and gave reasons for why they wanted to. As I have said I think they made such a poor effort of selling the change with the concept they have been forced to bin it off. If they had put a bit of time and effort into it, then it may have moved on a bit further

Gutted, a true loss for democracy around the club.

Gutted, a true loss for democracy around the club. Yep, majority didn't want change. There you go.

Well that was a monumental waste of effort and no doubt some money. I wonder if the club will now begin a similarly extensive consultation to see if fans are happy to stand in the wind rain or take up seats in probably the most embarrassing tented village in the world of football. I'm guessing probably not. Talk about fiddling while Rome burns.

Excellent, and shows that the club listened. Many 'consultations' are purely a thinly veiled political exercise to pretend to have engaged people. My responses have always been that we didn't want something that looks as generic as everyone else, and most recently that the proposals were no more than a piece of clip art in a generic shaped shield. I wanted to see a Pirate retained, toughened up a little with a clear identifiable link to Bristol and of course 1883, Gas too.

I knew it! "The existing option is also not particularly versatile and poses problems when it comes to applying to merchandise or using it through online channels. Finally, it was felt that the current pirate was more representative of an Admiral and the direction of the sword often leaves the crest off-centre."
