I knew it! "The existing option is also not particularly versatile and poses problems when it comes to applying to merchandise or using it through online channels. Finally, it was felt that the current pirate was more representative of an Admiral and the direction of the sword often leaves the crest off-centre." Why is the current crest difficult to market ? Honestly don't understand

HAHAHA cant wait for all the conspiracy theorists on here to profusely apologise to Tom, the club and the fans Maybe learn before jumping to conclusions next time! I mean, they clearly want(ed) to change and gave reasons for why they wanted to. As I have said I think they made such a poor effort of selling the change with the concept they have been forced to bin it off. If they had put a bit of time and effort into it, then it may have moved on a bit further Agree that the whole process was embarrassingly amateur. Impossible to sell after those dreadful concepts were displayed. Who on earth thought that they would inspire any enthusiasm for change? Personally am disappointed that we are now stuck with the ridiculous āpirateā.

I was open to switching the logo if the design was right, but any vote should have included the option to keep the current badge to keep it fair.
I think our badge is unique and am glad we're keeping it, but I would have been open to switch to a cleaner font and a more aggressive pirate without changing the overall concept.

Good to hear that the exercise has resulted in what was said by most on here. Not sure how representative of the fans the forums and twitter are but the club appears to have listened to the vast number who were against the idea of changing the badge. Not sure if this will effect how the club will go about ābrandingā sports wear and other stuff. Whilst the badge wonāt change, atm, they havenāt said yet what they will do about the ābrandingā on their sportswear range. I guess that could change without having a badge change.
Whilst I can see the idea that some may think it a waste of time Iāll give the club the benefit of doubt and say it was an exercise where, in the end, the club listened to what fans were saying. Well done the club. In the end!! And in the end it was good to see fans do have an influence on what the club does. Itās been a good exercise in the club realising that the fans / clients / customers are very important esp when they will be the ones who buy or donāt buy any merchandise that the club market so their views are important.
UTG!

Totally agree, there was never a do-nothing option. Their concepts were awful. At least common sense has finally prevailed.

Why not just reduce the size of the pirate to fit inside the current badge?

Tbf I do sympathise with what the club are saying re. the sword etc.
Surely most people would be happy with subtle changes to address the current issues - I'd have thought that could be done without a full re-brand.
Maybe change the font (if that's problematic currently) and rework the sword so it doesn't point outwards. Problem solved

Agree that a total rework was not necessary. Keep the circular design with Bristol Rovers FC Incorporate 1883 into the border in the same font as Bristol Rovers Keep the blue and white quarters Lose the football - looks childish and unnecessary imo Change the main image to a smaller one within the quarters. Most importantly use a proper āpirateā image as opposed to the current one which has no resemblance whatsoever to a pirate.

Decent attempt fair play. Now if he'd used Stuart Sinclair's face instead of blackbeards as the template we'd have a winner!
