Loft dragged down when he got goal side of the defender. Clear pen Thought it was a bit soft myself. The defender was an idiot, definitely pulled Lofts shirt as he went towards the ball and it was right in front of the ref too. Easy decision for the ref to make. Not the best game ever but a solid enough performance from us. Limited them to no chances and created a few of our own, especially second half. We had obviously decided that route one diagonals were the tactics from the off and we rarely committed our full backs forward either. But if that’s what it takes to get a result then it’s horses for courses. Positives were yet more minutes for players coming back in from lay off and I thought that the centre halves dominated their forwards.

We have played more games than almost everyone below us. I haven't chosen this post in particular, only its the last post with the table. 50% of the table is in minus goal difference. Take out FGR Morecombe and Burton which are leaking goals for fun, and the league will definitely not be won on goal difference. I cant however work out if we are poor at the front, poor at the back or a mix of it all. I'm far from a coach but if I was, Goal difference for me would be on the agenda and how we can impact our results based on as I say 50% of of the league on Minus figures. We have to be careful of that I think. No getting away from the great result UTG !!! In a league where it is stating to look like a top group and everyone else, getting points on the board is brilliant. It was a great result but if others pick up points from their games in hand we are back in trouble. Keeping this mini run together, picking up wins or draws for a number of games now could really change our season.

Slightly off topic, I wish the Ted's would stop whining about us coming for them.
They're doing a pretty good job coming for us 😀...

Having listened to the post match interviews, the tactic of rotating players and then bringing on match winners off the bench once the opponents are nullified is going to be a key one for us this season. Strong bench enables us to do a lot.

Marshy marches on! Make sure you’re up and about on Saturday to start the matchday thread. Could we win 3 on the trot? : jaw drop: I’m always up early around 4am on Saturday to sort the horses out, so if anyone gazumps me before that then good luck to them! 😁

What a difference actually having healthy centre backs makes. First clean sheet since August 13th in the league and our third win in the last 7 days in all competitions.
Bring on Saturday!

This season is all about staying up. We seemed to have played a lot of the smaller sides so we need to get points in the bag, no matter the entertainment value.
Hopefully we can go on a cup run and look to offload some squad players in January to help reduce the annual losses.

Thomas and Gibson looked quality. Shame they are both loans, like last seasons best pairing!

Given Grant and Rodman are continually injured there's hardly any JB could offload anyway.

Went to the game last night. My first visit. Thoughts are:
Franchise: First time at the stadium. Have to say, it really is impressive. Wouldn’t mind something like that for us and would even put up with it being a little out of town. MK were really poor. I know they’ve had a poor start to the season but I was surprised just how bad they were. They looked like the away side sitting deep and looking to play out a draw. What would worry me most if I was a MK fan was the attitude of some of the team - as the game went on their heads seemed to go down. Best example was when, with about a minute of injury time left, their goalie had to scream at his player get the ball back to him which had gone out of play near the corner flag; the dons player ignored him at first and then half heartedly passed it only halfway back. Just looked fed up and couldn’t be bothered. I’d have been fuming if one of our players did that.
Gas: Good turnout for a midweek game from our fans. I guess a lot still had tickets for the original Saturday date and decided to go anyway. Made some noise at times, helped by the stadium acoustics. The team had a poor first half I felt but always looked comfortable and the better team (with just the one scare when we took ages to clear the ball that was bobbling around in the box). We were too tentative in attack. Too often we were slow to make a pass or played it safe. Often we went long to no affect (a bit like at Barnsley). Belly often hesitated to roll it out quickly, deciding in the end to go long. I think that’s just a trust issue at the moment with what’s been a makeshift defence up until now and I think that will change with a settled defence and as relationships and understandings grow. Second half was better. We began to look more threatening, especially after the subs were made. Started to look like we were going to score in open play, although had to settle for the pen in the end (which was stonewall). Loved the way we (and Anderson in particular) managed the game and saw out time. Collins looked lively as ever and Evans made an impact when he came on. I was disappointed in McCormick but he’s a good player and will have better games. Looked like we took a few knocks so hopefully no new injuries. Overall a good professional performance and very welcome away win. I’m optimistic for Cheltenham - got tickets and really looking forward to it now.

Anderson in the corner near the end. Just felt like all those lost 50/50s over the season were levelled out in one sitting. Just kept coming out with the ball. Could have put 10 men on him and would have still walked away with the ball. My moment of the night

“At home to Bristol Rovers” seems to be a regular comment over on their forum, as if it’s some kind of insult to be tucked in by a club who have spent 5 of the last 6 seasons at this level. Delusions of grandeur galore over on the the delightfully named “sit down or we’ll steal your club.com”
Here’s hoping they have the best ground in L2 next season.

Yeah shirt pulling inside the box was always risky as the ref had already booked Collins for doing it.

I hope you are. I suppose I was thinking of a fifteen to twenty point, ten game run. We have a good base now to build on.
