Isn’t it a bit self perpetuating though ? Hey Gasheads , we’ve got a cup game coming up but we don’t think it’s of much interest so we’re only going to open half the ground . The atmosphere won’t be as good as half the stadium will be empty but it’s a bit better than a papa johns game . roll up all those that want tickets ?! Better than opening everything up and having 50% of it empty but still being Stewarded with all the costs that entails? Better still to have adults for £7 , kids free and fill the stadium . ( I don’t actually know the price structure for this game ! 😂) I was thinking about going when I first heard the draw but after hearing it’ll be a half used stadium it’s put me off , so won’t bother .

So you only go when it's a full Stadium? Weird. I go to support Rovers no matter what the attendance is.

What happens if there are 1200 spaces left and 1500 turn up on the day. Will they turn them away?

I wonder how many of the more casual supporters will be aware of the arrangements, and will be planning to make a decision towards the end of the week re. getting a ticket.

If the club can’t be bothered to open the whole stadium I can’t be bothered to go myself.
Sends a message that they don’t take the fixture seriously. So why should I?

Or to play Devils Advicate… “If fans can’t be bothered to go, then the club can’t be bothered to open empty parts of the stadium. Sends a message that fans don’t take the fixture seriously. So why should the club?”

Sorry if already been asked already, but is there anywhere you can watch the game (apart from the Mem before anyone says it!).
Assuming not iFollow as it’s FA cup, so bbc? ITV? Red buttons? Internet?
Or, if I wake up on Saturday and think sod it I’ll get down to Bristol, can you get tickets on the day?

Think we’ll only get 4/5k for this game . No first round home tie in last five years has managed 4k. With three consecutive saturday home matches I doubt fans can afford all three. Crowd 4679 😉

Don't think closing half the ground helps the atmosphere. The east stand was full. And if you're taking children you want family areas.

Rovers could have opened the whole ground which, simplistically, would have doubled costs. If 100 extra came to the game then not worth the extra cost.

Rovers could have opened the whole ground which, simplistically, would have doubled costs. If 100 extra came to the game then not worth the extra cost. Perhaps but for the whole of yesterday’s match there were 4 people in hi-viz jackets leaning on the crash barrier enjoying the match in the West Enclosure, with a few others wandering about on the edges of the West Stand. Not sure who they were stewarding. Yesterday’s match would have been largely self- stewarded. 5 minutes after the start of the match there were several people at the top of the steps between blocks C and B in the East Stand unable to find their seats and not a steward in sight. Perhaps they were irregular fans who didn’t know the set up there. Whatever, not a good impression for them without anyone to help them. Previously, whenever I go in the East Stand my ticket is checked. Yesterday I walked up and past the young lady on the steps with my ticket ready. She was on her mobile and ignored me. This is not a dig at the club but a dig at the company to whom it’s been out-sourced. UTG! edit: Sorry Tilly and baggins, I’ve just seen you’ve said the same. Great minds eh....? 👍

I was in the West Stand yesterday, as an unofficial ball boy, as I didn't think the club would have anyone to cover that area.
If anyone knows the West Stand there is quite a dangerous concrete dip from pitch level and it would have taken a while for the ball boy to navigate this, the metal perimeter and climb the steps to retrieve the ball - not what we would have wanted if we were one nil down with a few minutes to go!
Even worse if a player tried to hurriedly get a stray clearance from row Z (well more like row F at the Mem) with wet boots. That terrace can be slippery.
I believe the four hi-viz wearing people were St John's Ambulance. There was also one of the club analysis guys, an away photographer and someone I guess was perhaps the Rochdale coach driver.
That said, there were 3 stewards, plus another who walked around from time to time, "stewarding" the practically empty area after the hospitality entrance, which did seem strange to me, but maybe it is a ground safety requirement?
And there someone was watching the telly in the debenture bar, but no idea who they were.Just hope they were not getting paid and skiving, or else I have just dobbed them in!
