Excellent performance yesterday. We held our own and both last night and last Saturday proves we can compete with the big teams. Rossiter looks a great acquisition now he's got his fitness sorted. Another immense run out from Collins. Shame about Loft, hope he's not out too long. UTG

Really encouraged by the last 2 games. Okay, we didn't win either, but we more than matched 2 sides that will be in the promotion shake up come May. I didn't think I'd be saying that a month ago.
Belshaw might have won MOTM last night but their keeper also made some great saves and I actually think we had the better chances. We deserved at least a point and could have nicked all 3.
A bit concerned about the injuries because to play at that tempo we'll need second half subs and a strong bench is therefore important. Hopefully Loft and Anderson aren't out for long because we're already missing Coutts, Grant and Marquis.
Last night would have taken a lot out of the players, and with a day less to recover, I just hope they've got enough left in the tank to put in a similar performance at Derby on Saturday.

UTG Although Loft has done brilliantly I wonder if him potentially missing a game or two could inadvertently see a benefit for us? By that I mean a switch back to the 4-2-3-1 system of last season with Collins, Evans and Sinclair behind and wide of Coburn? Sinclair and Coburn have both now had matchday minutes and more time on the training pitch getting used to their new team - that system with Rossiter and Finley sat behind them could be quite an exciting prospect?

How long is Marquis out? I thought he was on the pitch doing the pre match warmup in the Plymouth game. Hopefully not far away and giving us another option?

Interesting take, very excited to see if we go this route the next few games. The players we have, I think they can put a shift in in any system!

Fantastic performance last night from Joeys team; everybody put a shift in, proved beyond doubt BRFC can compete with all the teams in division 1. Concerned about the mounting number of injuries, although with Scott good to go, he can come in for Anderson; and hopefully we will pick at least another point against the rams on Saturday.

Talking of Rossiter, the Sky commentator trotted out the Robbie Fowler quote about him being the next Gerrard. Too bad McCormick wasn’t on the pitch long enough for them to refer to that observation that Luke was the next Lampard and then they could have surmised that rovers had succeeded where England failed…in getting the two of them to play together effectively in the same team!

Makes me even more proud to be a gashead after reading those comments. I said at the begining of the season we could make the top 6 I think more than ever we can if we can avoid major injuries. We have a good youngish side with some quality that can match anyone in this league when we are up for it. People may laugh at me but i predicted top three at the begining of last season and we did it.

I bet Coutts was gutted not to be involved last night given the long time he spent at Sheff Utd. Possibly would have got himself sent off again though!

Nice performance, really happy with our attacking threat and mostly nullified a very talented Wednesday side.Did we defend a little deeper than normal? Main reason I ask that is I don’t think Belshaw had to make any of his normal numerous sweeper keeper interventions during this game.Intrigued to see what happens regarding James Connolly when fully fit,Thomas and Gibson shaping up nicely as a pairing in a back 4 but might we soon see a back 3 of Connolly- Thomas - Gibson in certain games?Gibson can really ping some quality passes with his left peg and Connolly is our best ball playing centre back so the possibility of reverting back to more of a passing game from the back is there I believe but we may just stick with how we are playing at the moment as it seems to be working so well.So nice to have options for JB to ponder having been so short of defenders not long ago.

Good point re the back 3 or Gibson could well play LB with Thomas and Connolly in the centre. So nice to have options!

I know we have rose tinters on here but this from their forum is bordering on libel! Byers and McGuinness dragged us through that, everyone else was minging (with some sympathy for Smith and Gregory who worked hard but got nowt from us, or the ref). One of those nights, I thought Rovers were crap too but just pressed high and bullied us a bit - one of the few clogger teams in this league who physically can. They’ll do ok. Horrendous game of football though, as I suspect many of theirs will be. I am really confused with the “physical” comments. Their team seemed like giants compared to ours, and we seemed to get muscled off the ball whenever it came to it. None of our back 4 are particularly built, our midfield, the biggest is Evans and he’s hardly a strong bully boy. Upfront only loft is a big fella. When we’ve played the sides with much bigger budget and players bordering on championship standard , ie Wednesday, Barnsley, Portsmouth….my main observation is their players are about as good as ours but added to this they are all quicker and about a stone heavier. V Barnsley it was like a youth team v adults. There is no way in hell anyone can look at our team and think it’s a direct, physical team. It’s just very fit and determined and to be fair, we do try to win free kicks. I think it’s possibly because they automatically think “Barton = physical” or it’s just the case when they can’t bully us in their home ground they assume it’s the other way, and seek to explain their own lack of ability in winning the game as “they didn’t play fair” Wednesdays goal was a cross and a header from a big No 9. Our goal was a beautiful dummy carving them open and then a beautiful chip over the keeper. Says a lot about who’s the clogger team.

The only cloggers are those from Sheffield like, sparking their clogs on the way out in despair of witnessing their team being held by a bunch of talentless bully boys.

I watch YouTube a lot and pick up vlogs by fans of opposing teams. Common format. Start off all cocky, how we're average and their heroes are going to blow us away. At the end virtually speechless.

But perhaps we are a big, physical team ‘mentally.’ We are up for a battle every time and although relatively small we do oppose anything they throw at us. And of course Finley plays on the edge of a yellow/red card most matches. JB has really transmitted a them v us mentality and so far it is working. And of course it is the JB-connection that decides for opposing fans. UTG!

I noticed that the Sky woman tagged a Plymouth fan in the comments, of course, she is completely unbiased!

Much easier to fall back on “Rovers are a dirty side” rather than “we've just been schooled”. Knowing full well that anyone whose never seen us will swallow it as gospel; given who our manager is.
But that’s their issue, simple minds a plenty if anyone thinks Barton has got us on the charge by employing a squad of 18 thugs who just kick lumps and can’t play.
