At first I used to clap when a picture appeared on the large screen. Gave this up long time a go when it started happening 3 or 4 times every game. In the end I did'nt know who or what I was clapping for. I reckon if it goes on we'll be continually clapping for the whole 90 minutes.

Might join in Saturday though, just to get the blood flowing in the hands.

This is a really poor idea not thought through by either the twitter militants or worse still the Newspaper clowns - it's not our place or indeed anyones to enter DCs family space ..
Sadly now some of the crowd will think it has to be done and it will happen .... I feel embarrassed even ahead of the game and angry that some people that lack clear emotional common sense actually believe they speak for and thereby represent all Gas Heads.

Just reading the Vale forum and they have the same view that it's not a good idea. So someone on Twitter suggests it, people disagree and that should be it. No, Bristol sh1t journalism jump on it, don't read the room and quote that it has support when it doesn't. Darrell and his family know how we feel about him. This (well-meaning) idea is riddled with problems and should be binned immediately. Cheer him on and off the pitch, with a standing ovation? Absolutely.

Well it allows plenty of time for those in the bars pubs and in the ground to spread the word its inappropriate to have the DC 18 minute point clapping. Stick to the nick Anderton 16 min clap.

My worry is that the Facebook crowd won’t have the same sense of self awareness that’s evident on this forum.

I agree it doesn’t seem particularly appropriate, but also I feel calling it a “touching tribute” is a real over sell, it seems like the type of idea that took all of 3 seconds of discussion

DC is and always will be special to us I’m sure he will appreciate the gesture.

Big round of applause with DC songs before the game I think is the safest thing to do. And especially as he crosses the field to the dug out' then everything should revert to normal

So long as the cheating Port Vale barstewards don't fall over like they've been poleaxed and get little Sammy Finley sent off again! I'll applaud DC on at the start and ignore any applause on 18 minutes, that's ridiculous but these are the days of woke you know!

You are right chant his name when he comes out onto the pitch and give warm applause, he will then realise that we are all thinking of him and his family and what they went through , then get on with the game.

Quite a lot of Bristol Rovers supporters feel the need to show a popular ex-manager they are thinking of him after he had the biggest of all losses. Now agree or not agree with the sentiment, where do you get the ‘woke’ bit from 🤷🏽♀️
