£40k to reach this stage and and £100k for both finalists apparently £100 for being in the final? Is that it?

Surprised the money is so low, I thought the big incentive to allow prem u21 teams to play in this competition was that the prize funds were increased. dread to think what they were before.

I was musing over if we made it to the final and it was Plymouth the opponents . The game cancelled to play that final would be Plymouth away.

Thought this competition was split north and south to the final. With Bolton v Pompey it clearly isn’t now. When did that change?

Also the gate receipts from Wembley would also mean the total received should be around £500000 I would guess.

We’ve got this far now bags, let’s hope we make it to Wembley I’m sure financially it will be great. Anyone know about finances for the finalists ?? Former Sunderland director Charlie Methven, made famous by the Netflix documentary Sunderland ‘Til I Die, estimated that a run to Wembley in 2018-19, netted the Black Cats close to £1m in prize money, ticket sales, merchandise and TV money. They have a big ass stadium and a huge fan base.. who weren't boycotting (because they don't give a f**k about U21 teams - they have aspirations to get back to the top flight anyway and wouldn't think twice about entering their U21's into the competition - would suit them nicely :-| ) So it makes sense they had quite a decent turnover from the run. Didn't they beat Newcastle U21s en-route?

I think if we made it to the final and there is a decent crowd we would be looking at making £500-600k in total.

When you consider just over a week before they got a crowd of 46k v Bradford, you could argue Sunderland fans were 'Boycotting' it as much as anybody else

Fair play, if so. I got the impression (albeit from limited social media interactions) that, as newcomers to the 3rd tier, they were somewhat naïve about the boycott and generally excited about the chance to add more silverware to their collection. Perhaps fans stayed away out of embarrassment that their first team were playing their rival's B team in a competitive fixture. I certainly would be.
