Why wouldn't they play in the first team stadium? They don’t in this comp, in most cases they merely play at training grounds. I thought they always played away, but have no interest in the competition so may be wrong.

The point was where would they play their home games if they ever entered the league, I assume they'd either play at local league grounds i.e Man U play at Salford, knowing our luck City would enter and then seek permission to play at the Mem!!, or spend £m's building mini stadiums at their training grounds.

The Prem U21 sides could play their home EFL games in the minds of the conspiracy theorists - that’s the only place this weird concept is ever going to be happening.

Yep I know. As I said earlier why wouldn't they play in their first team's stadium? Surely the apologists would lap up trips to Anfield and Old Trafford etc.

Apologies should’ve been clearer, they play away in every game of this competition but in the academy leagues it’s training grounds for their regular fixtures

It’s only the earlier stages that the U21 teams are away. Everton U21’s vs Mansfield was at Goodison Park (779 attended) and Wolves U21’s vs Man Utd U21’s meant away ties were an impossibility and was at Molineux (1150 attending).

Good to see we have made it kid a quid.
Good opportunity to try and get some new young fans who are now getting into football following the world cup, to come to the Mem. (Let's face it they wouldnt have much of a chance of getting in for a league game).

Hopefully you have all read the Pirate from yesterday.
Tom has confirmed in black and white, in the clubs official communication, that the PJ Trophy is NOT a means for U21 clubs to join the FL.
End of.
If anyone would know it is the CEO, who attends FL meetings.
His words, not mine; he "urges as many as possible to attend" and "it is only the club that is negatively affected" by non attendance.
If you would like to read his comments for yourself (and earn the club some much needed revenue), the programme was a double header for both the Exeter and Cheltenham games. There are limited copies available for purchase at the Cheltenham game with the bumper issue costing £5.
See you all v Plymouth! Remember it is kid a quid.
Althogether now Wemberlee! Wemberlee!

Funny how you criticise Tom G all year round then use one of his quotes 😂

Still begs the question of who wants to pay decent money to watch us smash a bunch of kids who's only answer seems to be to kick our players and make a name for themselves? Utterly pointless games we are made to play - at least the games v other FL sides are competitive. They have devalued a lower league competition and thats the reason I wont bother again, even with all the U21/23 sides now out

I don't see the problem at this stage of the Pizza Trophy. No under 21 teams are left, we and Plymouth will play almost our first team squads, so for now it's almost like the trophy was prior to the under 21 teams. Now is the time to support the team in this competition ad see if we can get a Wembley trip and the additional revenue it would generate. Got my ticket already! (not for Wembley, for Plymouth!)

Won’t ever understand Gasheads begrudging our current squad of a potential once in a lifetime chance of playing at the national stadium. If any Rovers side in recent times (or my own living memory) deserves it for the last two years, it’s this one!

Just some fans are opting not to watch it and that goes for most teams not just us. I'll always want us to win whatever the competition, I just wont be there to witness it and personally would see myself as being a bit hypocritical attending Wembley having not made the effort in any previous rounds/group games. Plenty will still go though so the club will still make a few quid

I must admit when Gerry Francis played our youth team in 1988 Gloucestershire senior professional cup final against Bristol City in days when it was just the two sides i was annoyed as it devalued the annual event but still attended we were beaten 3 1 Marco Carota scored our goal. Gfa quickly changed it into a tournament including Cinderford Forest Green Yate Town etc
It still runs like that today in fact Rovers are playing Cinderford at the Mem on Tues 17 January I believe.
Funny Rovers do not tend to advise fans of the fixture.

Just look at how Rossiters injury is now stinging us in the league, yet we are forced to play 6 (?) regulars (although given his injury record I wouldnt have played him at all)

Anssi was another one away at Orient, broken collar bone if I remember rightly and was out for the season.
