Good luck Alfie. If for some reason you happen to read this forum ignore the two rude dickheads - they are very much in the minority. The majority appreciated your efforts and wish you nothing but success in the rest of your career.

I wish him well but as I've stated for many years the kid just isn't up to scratch for me. Yes being a Gashead and all that doesn't matter to me as he was always a player who failed to deliver with several managers during several teams with us. Best of luck Alfie and hope all goes well at your new club UTG 💙

Sad to see Alfie go, understandable for both parties though. He's always given his all, both on and off the pitch - a shame that Garner cut short his partnership with Tony Craig, his game came on leaps and bounds when they were a pairing. Good luck to him, I think we'll see him back in League One at some point.

Not sure if I heard it right but did Alfie say in his interview that Mansfield have a bigger fan base or a big fan base?

Go get em Alfie! Good luck on your new adventures. Such a classy farewell message. Gutted he couldn’t be the lynchpin for the ball playing defenders to pivot off.

Class statement from Alfie - pleased to see him recognise those behind the scenes and who helped him. Does not suit our style of play at the moment but will be an asset to Mansfield and can be proud of his time at Rovers. Good Luck.

the Fleetwood game from a few years back is up there for me, Barton and Evans red carded, and then an Alfie pile-driver from 30 yards

Good defender, marked JCH and the snake out of the game when he marked them.

If he fully gets over the injuries and gets a run of games, he will be a lynchpin at Mansfield.
Thanks for taking your time to visit people like my Dad following covid and for the great work you did with everyone for the Community Trust and taking the time to chat and have pictures with the fans.
I remember seeing his old man play at Wembley and I hope that he gets the chance to play there during the remainder of his career.
No doubt Alfie will be at some legends game, or former players association meet up in the future, laughing and smiling and showing off his broad grin.
Best of luck Alfie.

I just don't think some people appreciate what damages injuries cause to someones career.
I think Alfie has had at least three pretty serious injuries, that would have ended careers in the 60/70s.
Luckily medical and rehabilitation advances mean players get a chance now, but it still takes a lot out of a player.
Wayne Jones could have been one of our best ever players, as could Jamie Shore, but if they tried to seriously play again, they would have been mere shadows of their former selves.
Once you lose that one yard of pace, have a mili seconds hesitation, you go from a top pro to average.
No doubt Alfie is still a hundreds times better footballer than the individuals who are saying he is not good enough!
And I bet Alfie is a much better human being as well.
And he is probably a better Gashead. He will be back to watch games at the Mem and will see the Gas away if they play near Mansfield and he doesn't have a game.
Ignore the ignorant, best of luck Alf.

Shame to see him go but its probably the best move for both parties at this moment in time. personally I felt a loan move would of been a better option, we have a top league one CB with Alfe its just a shame injuries set him back.
Wishing him the best of luck and hopefully we'll see him back one day.

Well Barton obviously feels he wouldn't improve one of the worst defences in the league. If he was good enough he would have played more. I guess thats why he's dropped to L2 and not found another L1 side.

Good defender and sad to see a gashead leave.
But best for both sides if he is not playing.
Imo Bobby Thomas should be sent back as I don't think he's any better than Kilgour.
