If true, 4-3-3 could be dead exciting, although then begs question of how to make midfield work with sinc/manse given wouldn't want either to go out wide. But as a min it's options and competition for places. I think bliss may be more at risk of being on bench than Taylor though? 4-3-3- probably wouldn't involve wide midfielders. Sinclair mansell and Clarke for example would be quite central with the full backs pushing past them when attacking and we'd probably have Taylor and Easter either side of Blissett in the middle. I'm not sure nows a good time to be trying out new formations though. If we keep going as we are we'll probably win promotion. I trust DC to get itv right though and that's a feeling I haven't had with a Gas manager in years.

Hi All Jermaine Easter will have his medical Monday and will then sign for the club.I am sorry i could not give more info when i broke this story last wednesday. As far as Jermaine was concerned this was a done done deal.As you are all aware DC met with Jermaine in November. Rovers expressed their interest in signing him but it depended on two major factors.A) They were not willing to pay a fee.B) They would not match his championship wages. It is well documented that Jermaine was keen to come back to South Wales and he was prepared to take a pay cut for this to happen. The only sticking point in the deal would depend on if Millwall would cancel his contract and take a loss. This all happened Wednesday and even though he has been offered terms from league clubs the combination of DC,location and the ambition the club have shown has meant Rovers will sign a talented and happy player. Many thanks for all the responses to my first post, especially the journalist who contacted me for my source. And for all the sceptics who thought this was all bulls@@t i understand as many people post on forums saying they are "In the Know".In the future i will post what i know, but as i did with this story check for 100% reliability first. Many Thanks and heres to you getting promotion Fair play to DC and the board for their patience. Assuming the above is true then there is a very good chance that we have signed a very good footballer for a fair cost. Excited...

Has only been a prolific goal scorer in two seasons of his long career.
However if he scores enough in the next 4 months to get us up, who gives a f**k.

Yeah I can understand people getting excited about this because he's a player everyone's heard of but in the past the big names have often been poor for us and the lesser players have done well. I'm no more excited about this signing than I was Sinclair or Mansell, Taylor etc. Good luck to him of course but I'll wait and see how he does before saying thinks like what a great signing.

Can anyone think of any other players who have moved from the championship to the conference?

Can anyone think of any other players who have moved from the championship to the conference? Don't get me wrong dude it's a hell of an impressive signing on paper but can anyone tell me what Easter was doing in the Championship in the first place? Hope to God his attitude is good and he doesn't see us as semi-retirement.

My concern will be that Easter will be another in a long line of non-scoring forwards. Easter has only hit double figures in a season twice. He obviously has ability but can he fire us to promotion?

He's got a 1 in 3 scoring record in League 2 and it's close to that in League 1 aswell. Maybe the Championship was too big a step for him.

If it don't work for us, as long as we ain't overpaying, won't be too much harm done

Except we might not win promotion. That's why I'd rather he started on the bench and then forced his way in by good performances coming off the bench rather than walk straight into a team that's doing really well without him.

Good point about promotion, I was having an optimistic / do we need him type of moment. Think we def do need it to work to ensure promotion

All depends what we paying him, if it's say twice Taylor's wages then do we really need him to prove himself, or simply say to him "get out there and earn your wages." .

Hes a name thats why people are excited more then his current level of ability or what he will bring to the team. Anything more then an 18 monthcontract and it would be a gamble too far. How will he adapt to this level ? Will he find his shooting boots ?

Not so sure it's just his name as I doubt we'd get too excited if we were signing an ex Championship player who was presently playing in the Conference South? Apart from signing Akinde or Tubbs then Easter looks as good as we're going to ever get, whether he hits the ground running is anybodies guess, but that's the case with any striker.

I find it a bit hard to believe to be honest......
The fact that the person who started the thread has also written books that is. Did he write the OP on his iPotato?
