Yeah I can understand people getting excited about this because he's a player everyone's heard of but in the past the big names have often been poor for us and the lesser players have done well. I'm no more excited about this signing than I was Sinclair or Mansell, Taylor etc. Good luck to him of course but I'll wait and see how he does before saying thinks like what a great signing.[/quote) How about Wally Waters? Big name and done well, in fact I thought he was exciting, those free kicks.

Can anyone think of any other players who have moved from the championship to the conference? the entire BCFC squad almost did it in the early 1980s

I don't know how good he is. Has anyone here seen him play? I haven't, as far as I know. I'd like everyone, including DC, to completely forget about the level he's come from and treat him the same as if he'd come from Kidderminster. He must prove himself.
My feelings are that he'll probably be a valuable addition to the squad, assuming we aren't overpaying him. I'm not expecting a super-hero who'll transform us. My worry is that he'll take someone's place (MT or NB), not be as effective, then be given time while the points slip away.
I'm such a miserable sod.
Actually, I'm just nervous about change at this point. But he might make us better, of course.

Put him on the bench , give him 20-30 mins a game if he's as good as we're hoping he'll come on score goals and replace blisset or Taylor in the coming weeks. Strength in depth is the only really good thing we can say for sure about this signing until we've seem him play a fair bit.

We don't know what DC's intentions are should we sign him. Will he start him? will he leave him on the bench? What we do know is that should he sign DC will have 5 days to asses his fitness and sharpness and will only put him in if he thinks it will improve the team. If DC gets that assessment wrong past experience tells me he won't be afraid to change it once it becomes apparent.

I'm not saying we shouldn't make any new signings I'm glad we've added to our squad I just think that Taylor is in his best scoring form thus season and bliss has scored pretty much a goal every 2 games and were on a winning run. I think any new player should be given a place on the bench for his first game if your team is in great form, which we are. He'll be able to see the team play for 60-70 minutes and be in a better position to come into the side and make an instant impact.

Completely agree but I very much doubt he's dropping 3 leagues on the understanding that he'll have to earn his place.

Yeah I'd imagine he's been told by DC that if he does well he'll play every week and if he doesn't he won't. Same for every player isn't ? I think it should be.

Totally agree Socrates, DC and the current players have got us in this position so I don't want to see anyone (not directed at JE in particular) disrupting the set-up.

Decided to have a quick skim of his wikipedia page and it mentions his brother, Jamal, who turns out played 3 games for us on loan back in 2006.

Yes that is correct, trolls brought him in from Cardiff, I guess lennie's connection. It didn't really happen for him in the short time he was with us. I remember thinking back then, I hope he's as good as his brother, lets hope is brother is still as good.

I like MS's suggestion that they want to sign 3 players who can slot straight into the team, and not just make up the squad numbers. Personally, I'd sooner we signed another Bliss/LDV rather than a Wall/Goldberg just to sit on the bench. As competition for places is clearly good for the team. DC seems no fool so we just have to trust he manages JE's etc in the right manner.

DC is a good man manger from what I've seen, I'm sure that he can do well to temper Mr Easter if he's going to attempt to do anything but work hard for us.
