Gasify, you started a good thread with a reasonable question. You asked what other sport could provide such good value for money. I suggested cricket at £20.00 a day for 6 hours of top class cricket viewing. Unanswered. Fair enough you certainly don’t have to answer. Aghast said, quite rightly imo, that 3rd division football is over-priced. You called him out for bs. You then, in your last post, use sarcasm in regard to my assertion that AFL and Football are similar. Had you read what I’d said you’d have seen I qualified it by saying they were similar “….as regards effect on the pitch.” Not the same in other aspects. Hey ho. 😉

JB's recruitment policy has produced our best saleable asset in the club's history. FACT Disagree. Barry Hayles, Jason Roberts and Ricki Lambert were far better players than Collins (so far) and played in the Premier League. None of those went for the price we are likely to get for Collins, whether he goes on to be a better player in the future is anybody's guess. Rikki Lambert hardly looked like international class when he departed. If he did then I'm sure we'd have got more than a £750K transfer fee.

In any event you are making it up. You have clearly decided a transfer value for Collins, convinced yourself that it's the actual value, and compared that made up number to the fees paid for three I mentioned, all of whom went onto play in the Premier League. Really.😂

I really don't get what enjoyment you get from supporting Rovers if you can't even appreciate Collins ability, I'm getting the impression that you just hate everything about the club, the owner, the manager, the stadium and now, it seems, even the players.

I took that your suggestion was that we share with Gloucestershire and you were using Cricket/AFL sharing as an example of how sharing in Oz works. However, you cannot compare the two. For one, there would be an overlap between the seasons in April, August and September. The Cricket/AFL sharing isn't one week Cricket and the next week AFL which is why it is not comparable.

Oh come on! There’s no way that you could have arrived at that conclusion from what I said. I have never even thought that let alone suggest it. It’s a ridiculous thought let alone suggestion. We can agree on that! 😉 UTG!

Can we ground share at the cricket ? Like they do in many parts of Australia. UTG! That's how I thought you were suggesting sharing with Gloucestershire.

But Ok. When you said “the cricket” I thought you meant generally. You thought I was being specific to Gloucestershire. I wasn’t. The thought that we both share would be silly! Generally I think it could be done with lift in cricket strips but it won’t happen now. Northamptonshire CCC and Northampton Town and Yorkshire CCC and Sheffield U did it in the 60s but it will not happen now. UTG!

Rather than share, maybe Gloucestershire could relocate and we build on the County Ground! 😎

I think there are two definitions of transfer price being discussed: 1) The upfront fee that we would get 2) The fees we would get from add ons I think the upfront fee for Collins will probably be higher that we have received before, but I'm not sure if the add ons will crystalise. Don't forget, before he joined us, he played 72 games for FGR and scored 14 times. He wasn't in their first team when he joined. Then compare to Lambert, who was knocking them in for fun before he joined us.

I realise Oldie isn't everyones cup of tea but I'm pretty sure it's only the ground and the manager he hates. Can't really disagree with hating those 2 things! I don't recall him actually being critical of Wael, more just worried about how he has chosen to invest/spend his money. Pretty sure he has consistently said we should be grateful Wael continues to bail us out while wanting a plan from him that would mean he wouldn't have to bail us out. He also isn't having a pop at Collins, just stating that making up a transfer value doesn't translate to an actual amount we may or may not get. He does come across as a miserable git though. I'll give you that.
