He had just signed a contract extension till the end of the season so surely a fee would have had to be paid?

No way any club pays a fee for a player that they don’t want to commit to more than 5 months for. Stockport probably happy to get him off the wage bill.

Look whilst I’m really disappointed and concerned about our recent form, IMO that’s a ridiculous statement to say that we’re as bad as we were when last relegated from L1. To give that some context, we’re only a point off that entire seasons tally with 16 games to go. Have a google at Rovers 0-2 Oxford 9th Feb 2021, that first 11 makes me shudder. Surely by February that was JB's side, selection wise? When BG was dismissed we were winning at places like Lincoln and had just won at Walsall in the cup, can you honestly see this side going to a mid L2 side and winning at the moment? If losing Rossiter has destroyed the whole team then why didn't JB sign a like for like replacement in January if, has he claims, Wael was fully backing him and had money to spend? Barton was appointed 22nd Feb so not quite sure how on the 9th feb it would already have been his side… Genuinely can’t believe we’re going back in circles about Garner again ffs. This place is a broken record

is that sad or is it more sad that this club is currently being managed by a manager that makes people feel like this? Plenty of people on here took the mick out of Fleetwood when they had Joey, he’s ours and suddenly they change how they feel. Hugo, like me, has been one of the few who’s been consistent about his feelings the whole way through, no changing his mind when things got better and then changing again now it’s not so great. Get a grip Wrong Hugo disappeared when things improved massively on the pitch. Like you he has never accepted JB as our Manager from the start and has now suddenly reappeared these last couple of weeks for obvious reasons. As far as I am concerned he has crossed a line saying he wants the club he say so supports to keep losing to get rid of the manager. I would say he needs to get a grip. Incorrect Bideford. I know exactly why HTE disappeared and it had nothing to do with what was going on on the pitch and I’ve no idea why you have decided to target him. HTE had basically had enough of modding this place and dealing with some of the pricks, I mean personalities that frequent this board. It’s not the first time he stepped aside and stopped posting for a while either because he felt hounded out. HTE is as free to come and go as he pleases for whatever reason he so pleases but one thing I do know about him is that he isn’t as fickle to come back based on a few poor results just to throw some mud about, he has slightly more intelligence than that. Just…

Joey says a lot and some you should take with a pinch of salt. Part of me thinks he sweet talks Wael in the press to keep him on side because he knows it will be difficult for him to get another management job after here because of his reputation, criminal record and certain fans' hatred of him in this country. I think that’s about right. Does anyone really believe everything that JB says esp in a post match press conference? We know, or should do, that what JB says is often a performance, he’ll deflect from what he’s done, he’ll seek excuses everywhere and has been known to throw individuals under the bus. It’s not always pretty but it’s part of JBs way of managing. Whilst we’re winning or getting good performances even if we’re not winning then JB gets little criticism. But when neither the results nor the performances are there he starts to come under pressure. And about getting another job, you’re right pirate. I said last year that JB realised he’s been fortunate to find an owner like Wael who may enable JB to do very well. Those on here who worry about JB being taken by someone else are way off, imo. There’s no way with his off-field record that he will get a job in either of the top two leagues in this country. Either boards wouldn’t look at him or the fans would turn on the boards if it were rumoured. JB can consider himself fortunate to have Wael and I bet he knows it. UTG!

This is a team and form that is going down. Let’s be realistic
Hope he can turn it round but not convinced. Imagine I’ll be labelled a “bore” for not backing him unconditionally

If things go wrong on the pitch or Joey steps out of line there will be those that immediately say "I told you so" and pressure will be then on the board and if there is one things directors don't like its copping flak from the fans.

I genuinely think most don’t care. Fleetwood and Rovers owners didn’t anyway. Win enough games at league one level and it’s inevitable that he’ll get a move….what remains to be seen is if he can win enough games at this level.

No chance. There’s been no report that there was a fee Posted on the OF: 23:00 Calum Macdonald [Stockport - Bristol Rovers] Undisclosed I’d be absolutely amazed if they’ve paid a fee upfront. Undisclosed can mean anything from a sell on to instalments for x amount of games played.

Fleetwood were a small club that just over a decade or so previous were playing in the North West Counties League. Part of it seemed a bit of a vanity project from the owner being able to attract a 'name' to the club (some would say similar for Wael), higher level clubs don't need that nonsense and all the baggage that Barton brings. Pressure from fans and their opinions plays a huge part and I've seen some incredible vitriol online when Barton's name has been connected with roles at higher level clubs.

The support for him here has been overwhelming for the majority of his time in charge.

You’d think so but I think the level of dislike for JB would make boards think twice. And clubs up there are far too aware of their commercial partners and sponsors to allow JB to come in and throw his comments around in a press conference after a defeat. Unlikely to happen imo. It’s why our success for JB is so important. He’s bought into ‘being a gashead’ because he knows that for him to be successful it’s going to be through our success. I hope it happens but he needs to try and manage us without trying to be too clever and use players in ways that suit them. He did last season, eventually, he needs to do:the same now and not try and show how clever he is. UTG!
