No idea. Are you suggesting I don't have the backbone to to openly discuss my views? Genuinely do not fully understand your point. So, whenever I talk about things like self-discipline and not indulging peoples poor choices, you’ve often said things like “you’re from the last century” It’s a lot harder to be straight and honest with people. It’s easy to be sympathetic to people, but that doesn’t solve the issue. Essentially I think sympathy and understand towards people who are being selfish and immoral is irresponsible, and it’s the easy way out, to not confront it. Compassion can be expressed by fundamentally being unpleasant but for the right reasons. Hence my post about my own issues and how consequences made me change, not understanding. I’ve had a lot of addiction around me and in my experience, it doesn’t work. Anyone who’s shown this to an addict and have them betray you again and again knows this. Mocking that as being some outdated concept rubbed me wrong, it’s actually really hard to do and comes from a place of love. Anyway, erm…up the gas! Well I am going to fundamentally disagree with you, on one simple principle. There can never be (surely) a one size fits all approach to addiction. Mental Health issues, trauma, abuse, genetics (to name a few) may be causal factors in addiction and understanding the underlying history of the person may well lead to different support mechanisms to support recovery.

I can only add that pity did not work for my brothers and, even though on a different topic of my illness, it certainly does not help me with that. One can be helpful in other ways

One can be helpful in other ways Not sure anyone would advocate pity You would be surprised how many will offer that. I often get people say poor you and words to the like and all it does is to make me feel sorry for myself. Long story short but when i started chemo i cried on my first time and a young lad, 7 years old, basically gave me a b0ll0ck1ng and said only girls cry, go wash your face and be a man, i have AML and have been coming here for 4 years. That certainly gave me perspective and courage.

How the ref (as good as he was on the night) misses that blatant handball in the second half, when the Ipswich lad brings it under control for a shot🤯🤯🤯
Accy part 2!
